I know I'm not supposed to advertise players in the forums, but since he's New Zealand's NT QB, I thought I'd let you guys know he's on the block.
My stadium construction didn't finish in time for last week's game and as a result, I'm about -$1 million this week with an away game coming up this Saturday.
Selling all my facilities won't save me and if I sell my stadium, I won't be able to afford his $104k salary. If he doesn't sell at what I'm asking, I'll just have enough time to relist him at $1000 and sell my stadium, before next week's financial update. If he still doesn't sell, I'll have to cut him and he'll likely retire... meaning the NZ NT would lose it's starting QB.
I've considered going bankrupt and starting fresh, (and that may happen anyway) but that choice still leaves NZ without it's QB.
So it may be a good idea to start looking now for a new QB for the next World Cup cycle.
I'm going to advertise him in the Ad's section, but I wanted to let the New Zealand community know what's going on.

Thanks for the heads-up.
I see that he has got a bid, so you should be safe now. Tempted to bid on him myself, but I don't want to put my own economy under too much strain (although if he sold for not much more than the current price, I'd still have a bit of breathing room), and I did acquire the Norwegian NT QB in my squad late last season, and he's a bit younger than Leota. Still, Leota will give someone a great two or three seasons (or perhaps even four or five with a bit of luck), and hopefully he will spend at least that amount of time in the NZ squad. Of the two backups, Ingram is 32, so will be retiring soon, and Coveny is very promising and still fairly young, but just not up to Leota's class yet. So Leota really is pivotal to the NZ team.

There were no bids on him the first time I listed him, and a few guys PM'ed me and said to relist him and they'ed buy him to help me out.
Thanks Guys! You know who you are!
If Hakers wins him, he's probably going to fire him unfortunately.
So you probably want to start scouting for temporary guy till Coneny is ready. I wish I coulda held on to him, cuz without him, I'm probably heading for demotion, but it was get rid of him or go bankrupt. I'm sorry about the lurch this will leave you guys in, but I was between a rock and a hard place, as they say.

Aside from Leota, Coveny and Ingram are the two best NZ quarterbacks there are. I have a couple of Kiwi QBs in my own squad, but at 2.5 and 3-star talent, they're never going to be in Leota's class. Even if I get incredibly lucky and manage to pull a QB with 4.5 or 5-star talent with high teamwork and consistency to boot, it'd be several seasons before he'd be anywhere near good enough for national selection.
The thought of Leota being fired by his new owner is too depressing for words. Almost makes me inclined to have a crack at buying him myself after all.

Well... Leota was fired.
But.. he decided to try his luck and is a free agent on the transfer market. Current bid is $2000.
I'm tempted to bid on him myself! LOL

I realise this thread is old news, but I do remember when Leota was advertised/up for sale.
It's a bit redundant to mention now, but he was only at a small risk of prematurely retiring. Any NT listed player that is fired (through player action or recycling of a team) is automatically listed on the transfer market as if he 'wished to continue his career'. This is actually also the one sneaky way you can get a player off a bot team. List him in the appropriate NT and hope his bot team gets recycled (but by that time, he's probably old).
What happens if he's not picked up as a free agent on the market I'm a bit hazy on and can't quite remember. I know if he's listed on the transfer market and not picked up he will eventually retire as normal. However, I can't remember whether they get two attempts (ie listed as free agent after firing, and then put back on the market for a second time around if no bids are recorded). I vaguely remember this being the case.
Anyhow, two world cups ago Australia had a starting safety retire mid way through the WC due to firing and not being picked up. To be honest, he was kind of crap anyway (but just highly skilled). Thus the super high wages for an only servicible player wasn't attractive. Leota, as we now know, is attractive enough to pick up from the market.
