Brought it back to 18,but just not good enough. Out of our hands now as to whether we qualify, will need help from the Swiss to do so.

After throwing away a golden opportunity of qualifying, don't deserve to go through anyway.

I wouldn't say that, Emeraldfin! Those 17 points in the 4th quarter could turn out to be very valuable indeed! I'd say the Swiss are disappointed they didn't push home their advantage in the second half. They should qualify but nothing is certain yet...

We just have to turn up offensively and put as many points on the Finns as we can next week. There is no point worrying about what we can't control.

Well played so far!

Well, at least we have made it interesting. A good win over the Finnish means Canada have to beat the Swiss by 21 points or more to go through. If we are going to go out, at least we have gone down fighting.

Dissapointed I didn't make those changes on offense earlier, especially when I contemplated them after the Canada game Last edited on 2013-01-04 at 14:33

Don't forget - if Canada put a big score on Switzerland, we could also overtake the Swiss!

If Switzerland win, we're in.
If Canada win by up to 18 points or 23 points or more, we're in.
If Canada win by 19 points or 22 points, it's points difference. I don't know the next tiebreaker.
If Canada win by 20 or 21 points we're out.

That's my take - and I think I'm right... Here's hoping!

Great work Eanna

I actually assumed the Swiss were out of sight scoring wise and had no hope of catching them.

I had thought so too, Emeraldfin. Beating the Finns by 42 - better than either of the other two managed - has given us a fighting chance. Great performance today.

With the Swiss beating the Canadians, we booked our place in the WC. Huge thanks lads for continuing to train and build up your players skills. Also cheers for the scouting and help along the way.

Well done to you, Emeraldfin. First Irish NT Coach to qualify for the World Cup.
