Yes there is something missing...

Maybe... it is pretty straight forward. Softcaps are based on the formula

Soft cap = (talent x 2) + 10

But will be taken in the next version.

Some notable points of contention:

"A tall TE has a better chance of catching a pass"

"A taller WR has a better chance of catching a pass"

18+ consistency as a requirement for a QB or MLB

16+ consistency as a requirement for CBs

You guys do know that height and consistency are enormous red herrings, right?

AbCat - I now what you mean, but these quotes (The first two) are from threads from the beginning of the game and though they should be irrelevant, I thought it was important to write it since admins have talked about it.

But yes - you don't need to be 6'4" to be effective: My WR

Regarding consistancy, then I disagree. You want to know if your players start the game with +/- one star BPOS or stay at the BPOS they already have. Having two 4½ star BPOS CB's roll 3½ for a game could send your guys to the halftime show down multiple TD's.

Statistically, with the number of players involved in each play, it is next to impossible for consistency to have an impact on the game.

Au contraire, my friend. Since GI is built as a one-on-one (maybe one-on-two/three) game, consistancy rolls for any player will have an impact on the game.

If a DE rolls high and the opposing OT rolls low, then the QB will be pressured. If a CB, MLB or OLB rolls low, TE's and WR's will get more receptions.

_If_ the game had some sort of 'team-effort' involved then yes, consistancy would be a minor factor. But it is man-on-man. Even with 5 OL and FB, a 3 man rush (DE-NT-DE) can still make pressures and sacks and not because they all are built like J. Watt. GI takes the DE and matches him up with the OT. Perhaps the FB (and here I am second guessing that the FB makes a vision check to see the OT having trouble).

Height and weight don't have an effect on v1 or in other words, current game engine.

GI is more four-on-four rather than one-on-one. Each pass involves at least four players from each team - the passer, the receiver and two or more blockers VS two or more blitzers, and two or more pass-deflecters/tacklers. The odds are that one player having a bad day with his consistency will be compensated by another player having a good day. In effect, even if all the players are uber-inconsistent we are rolling a D20 8 or more times. Try this here: http://www.roll-dice-online.com/

Even this presumes that each play in the game will be the same, with the same blitzing players and the same receivers, blockers and markers, and only once in a blue moon do the rolls add up to an imbalance that could affect the game significantly. Mostly the rolls add up to an average between 8.5 and 12.5 out of 20.
