I should also say that red marked players do not need to be updated, just delete them when they retire. I don't see the point in keeping tabs on any players that won't have a chance of making the squad. This when we come up with better rules for a player being marked as red will help cut down on the work.

I also added a new tab with just player numbers sorted by which tab they appear in. The idea is that this sheet contains no other numbers except player numbers to confuse a search. So in a seasons time when this is being updated and you can't remember where a player was last time or if he was there last time, search this sheet with his player number and it will tell you what tab he is currently in, you can then search that tab to find him. This new sheet is just copy and pasting a column from the other tabs, it takes about 2 minutes so I will do it at the start of every season (i.e. when updates should be in).

Great work mate

I'd say if we just update the figures between the beginning of the season and before the new NT manager is selected every year it will be fine. Gives the four of us that bit of extra time to get the work done.

That works. I wasn't sure how long the gap was between the season and the election results.

Because the new season is only around the corner, I'm going to wait until the season changeover takes place before I enter in players from the teams I was assigned. Saves having to enter them in now and update them in a couple of weeks.

That is probably the best time to do it. I added in a new column called updated. I was thinking that as we go through teams updating players, if a player on a team has retired then obviously going through the team won't find him but an old version is still on the spreadsheet. So when a player is updated, mark that box as 1. Any player without a 1 next in this column can then be checked by the incoming manager to see if the player is retired/update missed him or the 1 left off by mistake. Then once all players have been updated or deleted (so all remaining players have a 1 in the updated column), all the 1's in this column are deleted to prepare it for the next round of updates the following season.

Does this explanation make sense? In practical terms it adds no effort and catches some players that may end up being left on the spreadsheet indefinitely despite having retired seasons ago.

Wages have been updated so I am bumping this thread. Go forth and scout and don't forget to use the updated column when you add in someone or update the entry.

Edit: I should have thanked Rocky Solo for the website suggestion. Definitely don't have time at the moment but will keep it in mind for once this is running smoothly.

Right after a slight delay I am going to try to continue this so message if you are interested and I can resend out the link (thanks to seanad for finding it again for me). Once we know who is interested we can divide up the teams. Should be easier with most players having an entry already.

As a quick review of how to update. If you think a player is already there somewhere, search for his player id in the player id tab. This will tell you what tab he is in (tabs are divided by a players BPOS). Cut and paste the player to where he should be now in terms of position and BPOS. Add one to his age, update his wages and hit a 1 in the update column (column h).

If a player is on a bot team enter 1 in column F. If a player is not in the sheet merely enter his details in the relevant location (in terms of his BPOS and position), then enter 1 in the update column. Any notes on caps or secondary positions etc. can be entered in column G

If a player is 4.5/5*talent the backround of the cell his name is in should be green, yellow for 3.5/4*, red for 3* or below and default for unknown.

If a player is on a bot team or is red (i.e. 3* or less talent) there is no need to update properly, just hit a 1 in the update column to show he has been looked at. I don't see the need to track those players too closely given it is for the national team.

I feel like this has been explained badly but it is easier to see with the sheet (I don't want the sheet on general release so players can feel more comfortable giving up information about their players).

Note to Lonaldinho: Sorry, probably updating this too late to be of any help to you.

No problem mate, I think I covered all the important players for the NT. I have my own Excel done if you would like me to send it on e-mail. It might help ye and make things a bit easier.

Daryl Sexton (ID 1011797) and Eoin Reilly (ID 1348268)

might be my best propositions 3.5 + 4 star resp. (if it helps) I also have a few 17/18 year olds which are 4.5 and 5 star and being developed for later.
