I brought an unadvertised 4.5* talent player Gianni Di Matteo for $1000 yesterday without scouting him. Complete and utter luck.

He is a 16 year old youth pull with fantastic starting skills (5 at 7+ and 3 at 5+) and 15 consistency.

Best player I have ever got of the transfer market and it cost me next to nothing. Sometimes you have to wonder...

I've never gone fishing but sometimes you land a monster. Sorry I couldn't accept your friendly offer. I'm in the final of the Champion of Champions vs flames.

Rafael Ayrton looked pretty handy too. I was ready to bid a lot more on that guy but wasn't online when the auction ran out. Doh!

The question becomes: what do you gain from selling such a player (a) unadvertised and (b) with a starting bid of 1.000? The poor bloke even made a loss selling a potential superstar.

I've found similar deals before - not quite that extreme, but I've definitely bought 4.5* talent players with decent starting stats for < $20k.

If I wanted, I could turn around and sell these same players for $400k+ very easily, with multiple bids. My own 4.5* rookie with 8/8 starting physicals landed $600k about a month ago, for example, and the purchases I describe above were head and shoulders better than that player.

A common thread seems to be that non-native English speakers are the ones selling them, and I think there's a genuine disadvantage there because they don't have easy access to the same information that English folks do.

I can speak French at a passable level, but I'm not practiced. Reading through a "Spilling The Beans" document in French would give me nightmares, and I'm sure it's the same for our friends in countries where English is a non-core language.

It's really unfortunate, but I don't have any easy way that comes to mind to address it. It really isn't easy to communicate effectively in a language you don't use very often, and since this is an English-dominant game, those poor guys are really at a big disadvantage.

I used to go fishing. Not as much lately, but I have my share of 4½+ players on my roster that I acquired for less than 15.000$. 2 of them are on NT rosters now.
