I've found similar deals before - not quite that extreme, but I've definitely bought 4.5* talent players with decent starting stats for < $20k.

If I wanted, I could turn around and sell these same players for $400k+ very easily, with multiple bids. My own 4.5* rookie with 8/8 starting physicals landed $600k about a month ago, for example, and the purchases I describe above were head and shoulders better than that player.

A common thread seems to be that non-native English speakers are the ones selling them, and I think there's a genuine disadvantage there because they don't have easy access to the same information that English folks do.

I can speak French at a passable level, but I'm not practiced. Reading through a "Spilling The Beans" document in French would give me nightmares, and I'm sure it's the same for our friends in countries where English is a non-core language.

It's really unfortunate, but I don't have any easy way that comes to mind to address it. It really isn't easy to communicate effectively in a language you don't use very often, and since this is an English-dominant game, those poor guys are really at a big disadvantage.

I sold a 4.5 rated safety last week advertised at $10,000, which I thought was a fair asking price for someone I couldn't see much in(I'm a poor judge), ended up going for $6m+

Fair to say I'm happy with that 1

Now I know why your name rang a bell for me when we texted for our friendlies.

I'm not saying the 6.5m weren't a little bit crazy, but he's 19, has good enough INT to play Safety, even though you would prefer one point more (15), good enough CON (12), solid teamwork (11) and most importantly monster physicals (20/18). Luckily, his strenght was even uncapped, which means he will be at least 20/19, maybe 20/20. Stamina is already solid, which means I can start to train his skills up how I prefer it.

I paid the money I paid because I had it ( ) and because I will have a monster Safety for 8-9 seasons as soon as he's ready. I can train him up playing SS, which is a position that doesn't has any real impact against human teams who play Pass only. So he will gain BPOS pretty fast.

One thing is for sure: while I didn't exactly get a bargain price , he's no 10.000 player. I use low starting bids myself to get people into a bidding war (which is what happened to me, obviously), but "which I thought was a fair asking price for someone I couldn't see much in" - I can't agree with you on that one.

But in the end, we're both happy, I guess that's what counts.

Let's rephrase the question.

What makes you think that a SS only plays against the run?

Let him think that. There's no reason to think in this zone based offense and defense that they would be left out of the shifting necessity when no FS's are present. I actually have found that my defense shuts down offenses better with 2 SS's playing instead of 2 FS's

I think his statement should be read as: he will gain quickly bpos by playing him at SS/C even in league games. Even if he has low bpos there, he won't be a liability as SS/C doesn't play against the pass.

That is what I thought indeed. I read a discussion about this a while ago where there wasn't really a case to be made about the SS/C in pass coverage.

I'm not saying I KNOW that, but it made sense to me and I played that way. But you should never stop learning. If there are different opinions about it - fine. There is more than a chance I'm wrong.

One thing though:

I won't listen to arguments like this:

While I absolutely will listen to something like this:

I welcome a discussion about this.

I've always played a single fS and no SS.

The only reason I do it is to make sure that is the safety that is sued every time in the calculations. I don't have two guys good enough to play back there.
