So to answer a key question...

Where is the V3 lads?

Answer - it is coming (like winter allegedly)

I've been playing this game for almost three years now. Obviously, since logging in almost every day, it feels like a long time. How does it feel for a player like you, Casado, who's been here since 07.10.2008, so almost 9 years. And with that, appox. 3 or 4 years where you must felt that nothing will change anymore.

I'd resided myself to the fact things might never change, but I'm not going anywhere.
I'll see in my 10year anniversary next year

I have been using my nutrition center all along, just because it's fun to have players be in the proper range for their position. Should be fun

This could stand you in very good stead indeed

Excellent news!

I think my players are pretty much ready for the BMI introduction.

Here are a few previous threads regarding BMI/Nutrition Centre that may be of use to managers:

https://www.grid-iron.org/community/viewt/18079

https://www.grid-iron.org/community/viewt/16991/0

I've always set weight gain/loss to -5/+5 lbs to be safe but I do remember a thread (by bloodbeak?) testing it that said +8/-8 lbs didn't affect training points.

Most interesting change is passing to FBs (and presumably HBs). I think that may catch more people out.

It'll be interesting to see how BMI and FB/HB changes impact the transfer market as well

Overall it's great to see some significant changes to the game

I wonder if the transfer market is going to heat up for say that OL or DL that is 6-8 and 350 LB?

In the announcement, they are talking about the BMI, not the height and the weight. I'm not sure if they play a part.

As an example:

A 25 BMI RB can be 1.80 (5-11), but also 2.10 (6-7).

I get what you are saying but it limits some players being able to take full advantage of both speed and strength. Meaning, if you have an OL that is 5-6 and has 20 strength you will either have to build his BMI to get full strength and lose some potential speed and agility or keep his BMI down and not get full advantage of his 20 strength. That is the way I am seeing it. I recently sold my veteran LB that was a 20/20 speed strength LB but I could never get his BMI set to get both 20 speed and 20 strength. There was always a penalty in one area.

Speed + strength = max 35.

My 20-20 DE/CB will become a 20-14 CB.
Without penalty on speed I can probably raise his strength one point to 20-15, but next steps would be 19-16 and 18-17.

I think

I found the link and posted it on page 3 of this thread, guess our collective excitement buried it quickly

Question I have is do you need to train catching now for your FBs or is this just a random thing, similar to kickoff and punt returns, where there is simply a range they can get regardless of skill level. I can guarantee none of my backs have catching trained

My main RB is at 8.71. It means that will be a training focus the rest of this season but he should be serviceable catching.

That's nice if catching matters. Based on my opinion of the current game engine, I'm going to assume that the passing to FB deal is a completely random possibility, similar to INTs and you're going to get a random result within certain parameters when that pass play comes up on the roll. Still another interesting aspect, maybe they will expand a bit on each of these new changes and we will know more

Excited for the game with these changes ...... whilst considering whether I can be bothered to continue with the game

It's simply bad timing, but having spent 2 seasons acquiring and training youths (who are now effectively useless due to height/weight for positions) can I be bothered going through all of that again so soon and before they've even played as a team? Probably not.

Hope that I'm the only one that feels like this because the game desperately needs upgrades to attract players. But for some it will come at a cost that may see them quit the game altogether.

I also think that these changes could make it even harder/almost impossible for a new team to compete with more established clubs within a reasonable time. How many seasons will a new player have to spend doing absolutely NOTHING but building facilities ? To build all facilities required (inc stadium) and find, buy then train a team full of youths on their physicals alone could take, at a guess, 4 seasons. That's almost 2 YEARS (and assuming they ALL reach the phys levels reqd)!! Add another 2 seasons to allow them to be trained to around 9's in relevant skills. How many new players would be willing to see that out for 3 Years ?

Really hope it all works out and maybe some of the suggestions players have made to help finance new teams could be implemented and bridge that gap that, in my opinion, has just been blown even wider.

.........about time with the upgrades though good job

The announcement references BMI only. I wonder if this means that height will also matter now?
