Each week my 2 options for youth players are always defensive players. I do not need any more defensive linesmen. Why is this and how do I get options for attacking players like wide receivers etc.

Their position is irrelevant. You must analyze the player's ability and make him play in a specific role until he gets experience and changing his position.

When you first pick up a player, your first order of business should be to consider the talent. If the talent is acceptable, for me, that is 3.5* or higher, then you want to train fitness. This is so you can determine the max speed and strength. Depending on what fitness level the new player starts at and what coaches/facilities you have, this could take 2-4 seasons or more if you have no coaches or facilities. That is of course if they don't cap first. When they cap or achieve acceptable fitness level, you can start deciding where you want to play them. As they are moving up in speed and strength you can start thinking about where you want them to play. To see where they are at in positional stars, on the player page, the top tab has 'Profile', 'Positions', 'Stats' and Training Details'. Click on the 'Positions' tab and you will see the current positional stars your player has for every position possible. The more stars, the less time it will take to train him for the position (about 10 games played to get 1/2 star on any position. They also can only earn positional stars for one position per game (offense first, then defense, then special teams). Each position has different speed and strength needs and you may pick up some advice in the forums or start making your own decisions on what fitness you want for every position. Take OL for example, I like 19 or 20 strength and I also like 15 or 16 speed for my offensive tackles. Those are my requirements for that position. If a player caps strength early and I was thinking OL, then I might reconsider him for a position that needs speed more the strength. If he also caps speed early, then I would either consider him for a position that doesn't need either, like quarterback or kicker or fire the guy.

So in summary, any player can play any position, it just takes some longer to get there based on the bpos they start with for that position and how many times you play them at that position. Good luck
