What you can save salary-wise at WR/TE with a running-based attack is likely countered by needing higher salary OL (and DL on the defense side) across the board. With a passing attack you an get away with having the OG's having a lower salary. A rushing attack seems to want more balanced skills across the OL to work most effectively.

Have you tried low skilled OT's in the running game? They work just as well as the OG's in the passing game...But this is a strategic discussion and I think we both can agree that keeping a balanced offence will cost you more than a focused offense and some can afford it, others can't.

I could have kept a balanced offence since I am actually making money this season, but I made a strategic decision last season to focus and see how far it took me. Last year, Swans took the trophy on a focused offence and I copied that.

To answer the OP, I would characterize GI as a run-first game when you are playing in the lower leagues against BOTs or new teams. Then, when you begin playing better teams in human-dominated leagues, passing is your better option. Then when you hit Div II or Div I, you need to make some strategic decisions on how you want to manage your salary. Focused or balanced.

But passing has been the way to do it - as #2 in AS&E says - the only option for 25 seasons or so...

I disagree, but that's the beauty of management games. Balanced seems to be working for my team, but I do shake it up from time to time, depending on my opponent. You don't need an 18-20 skilled HB to run all over teams, but you should have an 18-20 WR or TE to pass all over them. I still prefer to take away my INTs and take all my opponents pressures and sacks off the table before the game even starts. Those are huge over the course of a season

Passing has not gotten my team very far recently with some pretty high quality pieces
