I know that this has probably been asked dozens of times. Since it doesn't seem like theres a search function, I'll ask some questions.

I read the newbie thing and the faq's. It tells a lot about training players and all that. There are even tables that talk about the different seats and what the facilities cost to build.

However, I'm still not sure what to do next. I took the advice to start building VIP seats in the stadium and understand about constructing seats when the team is playing away games.

I put in an order to build 200 VIP seats in a section that has no seats so that section won't be out of action when home games are played. I plan on building the other sections next until I have maxed out the VIP seats, will then do the next one in line and go according to the recommended number of seats according to league level.

I then realized that I needed to get sponsors and did that. (I wish I had done that before starting construction because I would have been able to build some more.) Although it apparently doesn't mean anything I set up the cheer leaders and made my teams uniform. Kind of fun doing that. lol

I then scheduled a free game against another team so thats taken care of. My question is what do I do while I'm waiting 2 weeks for the seat construction to finish?

I saved up a little money to maybe try to replace the old players on my team. Two will be retiring and there's some old players at 32 y/o or so which are the age where they won't improve.. Should I try to buy young players (making sure to not buy ones that have high salaries because thats the best way to bankrupt your team.) I want to follow the guides about getting talented players (that meet the suggested talent star numbers) but you have to pay for scouting. Is it worth it to pay to scout and to buy players in the beginning or wait until I get more seats built and money coming in. I can imagine that if the team doesn't have any training facilities that any real good players won't improve real fast.

I'm thinking that I should build the fitness center now so that I can at least try to increase the players core attributes like stamina, str, etc. Also, somebody on the forum suggested to sell off young talents because you can get a lot of money to start constructing things. I have 3 or 4, 4 star talents. Should I try to sell them and what should the starting price be? Wow, lots I don't know. I guess I should just do it. lol

Are there any guides or links because there doesn't seem to be much that spells everything out. I understand that you have to learn by doing but I also know that just doing something will make things more difficult than it has to be. I have a lot of experience playing text sports manager games but theres a learning curve in all of them..

I'll continue to look through everything on the forum. Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

Welcome to GI.

You're on the right track. The key to success in this game is patience. It's a marathon, not a sprint. There will be a lot of wait time and it can take a year or so before you start seeing real results.

Keep saving money. You can fire the old players if you want. If you can sell the 4* players for decent money, that would be alright. Depending on their age though, and the market at the time, it could be hit or miss. I usually start my 4* players out at $10,000-$20,000. Sometimes they sell for more, sometimes they don't sell. If you do try to sell them, be sure to advertise and post their talent in the ad.

My way of thinking for starting out is that the team you have now is just a bunch of place-mats until you get your financial base built. So all you really need is 18-30 players. 18 is the minimum you can have and you can get by with 18 players. Playing them on both sides and special teams as well. Or you can keep 30 players and have a different player at each position.
With 18, you'll save a bit more money. With the 30, the players will develop evenly so you will have somewhat of a decent team to use when you start developing your real team in a few seasons.
Don't build any other facilities yet. Just keep adding to your VIP seats and Exec seats until they are finished. Once they are finished, save up for a few weeks, then build the fitness center. Time it so that it finishes a day or two before the training update. As soon as it finishes, buy coaches with 20 fitness, and then buy all upgrades to fitness center. This will let you start training your real team in speed and strength.
By this time, you'll know a whole lot more about the game and maybe you'll have figured out what you want to do next or you can ask some more questions.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Keep in mind, this is my opinion. Others may have a differing opinion. It's your team, so feel free to do as you want. The real key is to be patience and don't give up.
