i think i read somewhere that the only way to change the players position is to play them in the position you want to change them to?
i keep playing some where i think they will perform best but i dont see their exp rising.
am i doing it wrong?

It could take a while before their position actually changes. Look at their position rankings. It takes 10 games played at a position to increase this ranking by .5 star (the first half star could be much quicker depending on how many games he had before you got him). So if a player's BPOS is 3* and the position you are playing him at is 1.5*, it will take 30 games or so before his position changes.

Bingo! Experience is a different thing than bpos at a given position. Players can gain experience any time they play. It often takes more than 10 games to gain a 1/2 star of experience, because some games you get no points. FAQ explains in more detail, but each player has a 50% chance to gain 1 pt of experience in friendly matches, 75% chance to gain 1 pt of exp in regular or cup matches and in AFLC they get 1 pt automatically and a 50% chance to gain a second point. What it doesn't tell you is how many pts make up 1/2 star. If it's like everything else in the game, it's either 10 pts or 20 pts. Judging by how long it takes to max out experience, I would guess it's 20 pts.
