I've figured it would cost a little over $20m to get a 70,000 seat stadium with maxed VIPs and execs built from scratch in a 15 day construction period. Add another rough $4-5m for wages incurred during this time to be on the safe side.

But I'm reluctant to press the 'Sell stadium' button, knowing that there have been a few teams in the past to accidentally wipe out their main source of income by clicking that evil button.

I can't find any info on this in the FAQ or game rules, or Spilling the Beans. Maybe I've missed it in the most obvious place, but does anyone here have an idea how to calculate exactly how much you would get from the stadium sale?

Disclaimer: I take no responsibility if you accidentally sell your stadium. You were warned above.

If I remember correctly, figure up the cost to build your current stadium minus 1000 regular seats (what you started with). You will get back half of that cost when you sell your stadium and you will be left with 1000 regular seats (like a new team).
It's been a long time since I sold my stadium, so I may be remembering wrong, but I do think it's half of the cost.

You only get 25% back. So sell a 93K seat isn't gonna net you a 70K stadium.

You are better loosing a few 100K each game than pulling down and rebuilding.

I remember someone selling a 80K stadium once and got a 11K stadium. Ended up loosing game income. Even with a 80K 75% full was better than that 11K stadium 100% full.

I am not sure. i would rather take the rebuild (given proper funding), than a slow bleed. 13500 stadium is pretty good.

Well i sold my stadium amidst a bidding war for quite the gem of a player.. got my player, had to sell half my squad to compensate and rebuild.. should be worth it in the long run..

Nfi how much I got for selling my stadium though, which was the question lol, sorry.. had other things on my mind at the time..

Lol thanks for that.

Thanks for the responses guys, they have been most helpful.

This is not for me though, it's more on behalf of another manager who now has a monster stadium, and who may need to rebuild sometime in the next few seasons to avoid trouble.

I don't know this guy's bank balance, so was exploring his financial options for a potential rebuild. 25% of the original cost seems like it would still help if he's currently hovering around the $15m-$20m mark.

Any lower, and perhaps he should be saving his pennies while the wages are still low, before taking the plunge.

Personally I am not worried about the costs at all. Like many others here, I could cover a rebuild straight to 70k at any time.

I makes no sense for me to sell the stadium under any circimstances.

If you are in Div I or II and decide to go on rebuild, you would not have to sink very far before a player team will be dominant. Look at all the Div II + III divisions with BOT's. You would most likely be in top 3 and thereby having a good attendance.

So say your stadium is 100.000 seats and want to rebuild and build a nice 70.000 seat stadium, which should sell out in Div III or II, but let's stick with the numbers in the FAQ - 54.000 for Div II and 48.000 for Div III.

So with the 100.000 seat stadium, you will be paying 60.000$ more per week in maintenance, so that would be 1.200.000$ more a season. Say you are rebuilding for 5 seasons, so that's 6.000.000$ spent on maintenance. To put that into perspective, you would need to sell your stadium and build at least 48.000 seats and that would gain you 7.150.000$ in selling the stadium, but you would need to spend 15.600.000$ to build that 48.000 seat stadium and then an extra 5.500.000$ to get to that magical 70.000 seat stadium.

So a total expence of 21.100.000$ to save 6.000.000$ amd earn 7.150.000$ up front while rebuilding and further save 1.200.000$ a season. You would get into black numbers after a further 6½ seasons. 11½ seasons in total.

But if anyone is looking to be dominant and saving money in season 44, I'm all in...

Spreadsheet can be requested via mail-order.

"hovering around 15m to 20m"??? I've been hovering around 1m to 5m for the last few seasons. It's been smoke and mirrors for my team since season 11. I arrived in TD with about 10-12m and I've never had more than 20m in the bank
