WHO SHOULD MANAGE UK NT SEASON 33

Who should manage the UK national team during season 33?

Obviously Abcat.

But, who should it be if he doesn't want the job?

The UK national team has clearly under-performed for the last few seasons. With so many live and bot UK teams, we have a much larger pool of players to choose from than countries like Russia, Australia, Denmark and Brazil - yet they are doing much better than we are.

I think that there are two main reasons for this:-

1) Bad formation and play-calling - offence should be HB/FB/TE/TE/WR and we should run the ball 100% of the time, defence should be 5/3 and set to stop the run every play. This may sound odd, but this is Grid-Iron (which is rather like high school level football) not the NFL.

2) As Abcat has repeatedly pointed out in the forums, bot players are often better than players on live teams - it sounds odd, but it's just the nature of Grid-Iron. Therefore, the UK national team's squad should be comprised entirely of bot players from the good old days when the UK won 4 world cups in quick succession.

What do you think?

Agree with some of this ..... but there is a major problem with your theory about all those BOT players

Think back for a second and you will realise that when the UK won all those World Cups there was NO RUNNING GAME within GI engine that was effective and so you may quickly realise that not only would your OFF Run game not exist but you'd also find that the DEF players available would not be suitable for stopping an opponents run game.

World Cup was bad dude .... but none of your theories prevented us from crushing the qualifiers and Australia (semi finalists ?) both home and away. But you run 100% EVERY game ? You will be stopped in my opinion.

GI is a dice roll .... so roll the dice and take your chances.

It is a dice roll, I agree with comments from Stevie. I would also add that defense still just needs to be your best 11 players.

Agreed. Others may have a diff opinion obviously but I don't believe that there's any 'magic formula' ..... just put out your best 11 and see where it takes you

Thank you, but no I've run my race with the National Team.

On point two, most of the players from the four-peat days are either retired or they stayed in human run teams until their mid-30s, by which time their physicals had deteriorated to the point they are no longer any good. But there are a few decent oldies to be found - the lucky ones who ended up on bot teams around the age of 30, and will stay in that state of physical perfection for perpetuity, like me, being the hunky adonis that I am.

Who should do it next then? Well, anyone who reckons they can get up at 5am on a Friday morning to check the orders haven't botted if we play against Australia or New Zealand. That and someone active enough to remember setting orders, and is certain they won't go bankrupt or leave in the next 20 weeks or so. Honestly doesn't matter which league you're in or how many cups you have. Just try not to bot.

if it ain't broke, don't fix it. However, it clearly is broken. And, if we keep doing things the same way, we will keep failing to fulfil our potential. If we want to win world cups, we must make significant changes.

Denmark just beat Brazil by 59-42 to win the world cup.

Brazil passed the ball 53 times on offence and ran only 4 times - and lost.

Denmark ran the ball on every offensive play - and won.

If the UK wants to win, we must run the ball every play. Look at Germany, they became a passing team this season and their results were terrible; for the previous 3 seasons they ran the ball every play and won world cups.

5 of 11 starters on the Danish offence are BOT players.

If the UK wants to win, we must make greater use of the BOT players we have at our disposal.

I could be wrong, but I don't agree that Grid-Iron is a dice game - dice games are random (unless there's cheating) and it is much cheaper to develop a game that follows concrete rules than to factor in randomness. In which case, I think a magic formula can be found.

Some national teams have been consistently good for the past 5 seasons. Other national teams, from similar sized countries, have been consistently bad for the past 5 seasons. This suggests some kind of order, not a dice game.

Dude are you for real??, maybe if you spent your time trying to train up your better players for the national team rather than just rent players on a Thursday and release them after your game on a Saturday the uk team would be better off eh???

Take Patrick Bull for example.... you bought and released him 6 times in 5 weeks. Stop preaching about how things need to be done untill you have your own house in order.

PS.. other than that i love your passion towards the national team!

Renting is evil.

It should be banned.

Until it gets banned, if others keep renting, I will keep doing it.

Most top teams rent some players every week - it's all part of the moneyball dynamic of Grid-Iron.

It will never be banned, because admin doesn't exist.

Maybe we have ourselves to blame - Melderon has no real business incentive to do a better job. if more people were prepared to pay to play Grid-Iron, then things might change!

I agree that a lot of work needs to be done restoring the team and a lot of bot players, and others from this nation need to help out to find the good players that perhaps we don't know about.

If I were to do it again I'm up early enough, and I definitely would look to different formations from what I ran last time. I'm not in 100% agreement on only running, because then that's just setting tactics to run every time and then just seeing what happens. I still think there are some teams that you should pass against.

The team is in slightly better shape than it was last time I did it, but it was decimated the time before that. Whoever does it, just needs to spend time getting those players back. Whether I do it or not, I can help find the players.
