This morning I got a message on my browser when signing in that said this password may have been seen in a data leak. Is that a site message or a browser related message do we think?

I had this message about other sites a few days ago, but not about GI. I think it is a browser-related message

I've just realised that the password I am using for this site was involved in a data leak which I knew about, best change it.

Since the database version they're using was last updateable in 2013, there could be a risk. But surely our passwords are only stored hashed with a strong salt.

I get that message too, and suspect it is (in my case at least) related to the yahoo data breach of a few years ago.

Do not be so harsh with them. This is holidays and they deserve some rest after a year of hard work.
