Which skills are best for each position is still guesswork for all of us if everyone is truly honest about it. Some seem pretty straightforward, while others are just a best estimate and everyone has their own opinion. If I recall correctly, the list you made was done a long time ago. Some may still go by this list. I agree with some if it, I disagree with some of it, and some of it I'm still not sure either way. And I think most people will be similar in their opinion towards this list. And there really isn't a way to tell who's right or wrong on any of it.

My best advice, is train fitness skills (speed/strength/stamina) first until speed and strength cap (do NOT train stamina to 20), then determine what position you want to use the player based on their speed and strength. Then train obvious relevant skills for that position and maybe a less obvious but plausible skill as well.
As you play and read the forums, you will develop your own opinion and read others that may influence and you can adjust your training based on that.

One thing I did years ago that helped me make my list of skills is to search games for players with 5* game ratings (on the stats tab) and scout those players to see what skills were trained high for those positions. It took a long time over several seasons to compile a large enough list to make comparisons that seemed useful. And still I'm not certain on the accuracy of my data.

As to your initial question, in my opinion, vision is important for LB's (especially MLB), but not important for TE's. Again. Just my opinion. Others will differ.

tnx on your opinion
And one more question, is (in your opinion) intelligence inportant for outside linebackers?

Still trying to determine that one myself. I do believe INT is needed for MLB. Based on how the game engine is suppose to work, I would think that it wouldn't necessarily be needed for OLB. However, most top end OLB's I've scouted had high INT and most of the time I use high INT OLB's myself. I currently have a couple of OLB's with lower INT I'm trying now so we'll see how they perform.

Unfortunately it's not allowing me to change my helmet color... what's up with that?

For helmet color change, go to settings (gear icon in blue bar at very top), at the bottom of settings page, pick the two colors for helmet (1st is helmet, 2nd is stripe).

When the game first started, this was the only part of the uniform that could be changed. Everything else was based on these two colors. In a later update, the uniform was added but the helmet changes remained on the settings page.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

I had a 5* player back many seasons ago with low intel that I maxed out at both DE and OLB. Over the course of several seasons, he outperformed at DE consistently and was very inconsistent at OLB. From that time on, I will not train OLB with lower than 10 intel and prefer green, just like most should be using for MLB. Complete dummies can play on the DL and CB, but not at FS, SS, MLB or OLB. That is my 2 cents

I'm getting to the point of getting buildings (having maxed out my VIP/Exec seats) and could do with a little guidance on coaches. Is there any thoughts on getting a level somewhere between 1 and 20, or am I right in thinking that if I'm investing in coaches of a certain "type" I ought to go straight to level 20?

I've got my fitness hall, so initially thinking of investing just in fitness coaches, until I build the training hall also (which I'm hoping won't be too many weeks away, now I'm getting good ticket money from home games)

You are correct. Getting level 20 coaches is the best way to go. Each time you buy coaches, you have to pay the sign on bonus which does not go towards salary. It's money lost. So, it's best to hire coaches in as few groups as possible.
There are two plans I think are the best way to go about it.

1) By far the cheapest way is save up enough to buy all coaches to max at the same time and be done with it. You will need a lot of money in the bank to do this as you need 10 times the salary in order to make the purchase (you keep that money, you just need to have it to 'verify' you can afford the coaches. But you won't have to worry about coaches again.

2) The 2nd cheapest way and the way I used is to buy fitness 20 coaches first. You can train your new players to find their speed and strength caps to determine which positions they are better suited for and not have to worry about player salaries going up. Then after your players start capping in speed and strength you then purchase all coaches to 20 so you can train those that are capped at other skills. I'd buy training center around the same time. One thing to remember when you go this route is that when you make the 2nd purchase, you have to buy fitness 20 again. You aren't hiring additional coaches. You are firing your current staff and bringing in a new staff. If you buy all coaches to 20 except fitness because you already have fitness 20, you'll end up with fitness 1 coaches and will have to make the complete purchase again.

There are some who prefer to get kicking coaches at less than 20 since it's pretty easy to train up a kicker in the time needed. That preference is up to you.

Hope this helps.

Great, was roughly what I was thinking, but makes full sense. Thanks for setting it out properly.

I have not seen height affecting any performance, unless someone else has some evidence that it does. For example, a short WR can play equal to a tall WR.

However, BMI and specifically weight, does affect performance. For example, I have seen fast players such as RB and WR perform slower. I used to have a RB that had 20 speed but was only performing at 15 speed when someone put him on the transfer market because he got fat. After I bought him, I put him on a nutrition plan and reduced his weight. After some weeks, he was back to 20 speed and performing at a top level.

BMI didn't use to be a factor in this game. However, the developers included BMI in an update a few years ago, so long time coaches have had to adjust for it a bit.
