4 kickers... I'm assuming they're all specialists, so 2 field kickers and 2 punters. Maybe by cutting two and drafting in one who is more balanced as a backup. Also depending on how far along they are in their build, perhaps the specialists would provide enough backup to their non-specialised area in case of injury - so you could just cut two and have the remaining two backup for each other.

As for what you'd do with those two extra spots, maybe a third QB (you never know eh, and he's such a vital part) and maybe an extra WR perhaps? Not sure about the tactical brilliance of a 4 WR set with no TE, but it seems silly to deny ourselves that option if there's an injury to one WR.

Slightly unrelated, and despite offense being king in this game, has anyone had any real experience with using a base 3-4 set instead of a 4-3? I figured since rushing seems to be fairly infrequent at the higher tiers, you may as well have fewer defensive linemen. This may have flow on effects on how many times you get to pressure a QB of course, but I'm sure I've seen LBs pressure and sack before so I'm unsure as to how that'll change if at all. I've been predominantly running it, but it's hard to comment on effectiveness. It seems to hold up against the rush ok (my main League competitor put up 176 yards on 34 attempts where 74 yards came from one play against a 3-4 made up of players who had a BPOS of non-defence positions and very low team chemistry) and the pass sort of ok also (up until the last quarter against a far superior DIV III Balkans team again with the same ragtag of players with low chem). And yes, I'm a low Div with a lack of competition week in week out (bots errrywhere) so variables are quite different for me.

Is a 3-4 base a viable option in the NT competition? (Wait, Poland used it in the WC final against USA though all pressure and the sole sack that I could see came from the right DE) Is it something to consider for us?

All your points are valid ...

1. I am likely to drop a kicker and replace with a QB, particularly given that the kickers are all fairly balanced anyways rather than specialists.

2. Not that interested in an overload of WR, given that this game thrives on good TE

3. A 3-4 set is definately being considered and I have also at times found it effective in TD. My only concern is to ensure that the right players are in the right positions for the best overall defensive fit.

Our group is UK NZ France.

UK is massive opponent. If we can get past France. Then we are good for the rest of the WC4.

Good luck for world cup.
We didn't select our roster because admins have locked the callups without reasons and without communication...
So we have team who is not improved.. And 3 weeks of work is destroyed. We are very disappointed.

It will be a closer match.

Australia wins an important leg against France using a no WR lineup that I have been working on for sometime with my own TD team, whilst United Kingdom have a botched lineup that allows New Zealand to win 69-0. I believe Australian managers should be reasonably happy with that first round that sets up Australia to possibly finish on top of the group, albeit a long way to go yet.

Win number 2 for us!

Both DEs did a good job with pressures. Kyle cartledge pumped out some good return yards. George Brogan got some more runs than normal, and did well. Alwyn Lane led the way for the recievers with most yards, catches and TDs. Jonathon Maric punted the ball out of the arena on most occassions.

The Australian coach has done a great job. UK vs AUS next...

2-0 with scoreline of 38-21 in both games .... Australia first, NZ second, UK third, France fourth.

As a coach I am still trying a couple of things each game that should not affect chances of winning but may not necessarily greatly enhance the scoreline.

very windy day v NZ ... we did well when running with the strong breeze in the 2nd and 4th, whilst holding up NZ in the 1st and 3rd when they had the breeze. Good spread of contributors, with a few errors but not really detrimental to the result.

Bring on UK in our biggest test this campaign. We did well against them last campaign without actually winning.

Lost to the UK. Massive offensive plays/scores by both teams.

Cannot complain about that. Still put 42 points on 'em.

Just gonna figure out how to limit their yards somehow.
