Has anybody downloaded it? If so what do you think about it. I haven't downloaded it yet but I heard from a couple of guys at school that it was now free to download, and it was better than vista and xp.

Honestly I've thought about it but my graphics chip in my laptop is too outdated for vista so I'm assuming the same for 7. all I know if they don't add in the indexing features that they took out of vista it's just more window dressing at this point

My laptop right now is having trouble running Vista. If anything, I'll be going back to XP.

it's pretty good.

it's what vista was supposed to be.
When they were originally writing vista, their plan was to write it all in dot net, but 8months to a year into the project they discovered it wasn't feasible so reverted back to standard coding, but tried to keep to the original timeframe, which of course meant they released that bugged pile of poo. they've finally sorted out most of the issues and annoyances that plagued its predecessor.

it's pretty quick as well!

I'll probably try it, because I'm curious about what MS did trying to make something out of vista crap. But still, I will stick to XP and will prepare to switch to linux (probably PCLinuxOS after 2009 version is ready)...

In all my past experiences, Mac is even worse than Windows. Windows has a lot of bugs, but I'll take it anyday over anything that Apple makes.

windows every day of the week...
macs are pretty, but so far behind in a commercial environment.
they're great for a home laptop which is only used for itunes and web browsing.. but any more than that and it's a PC every time.
