Yeah, I'd heard that too and was fully expecting him to get written out. I think it was handled well, and puts Kylo Ren well on the way to being a great villain (although I'm still expecting a 'redemption' storyline for him).

Not technically correct. Rey isn't in the expanded universe (EU). In the EU Han and Leia have 3 kids; Anakin, Jacen and Jaina (the latter 2 being twins). In this film they have Ben (who happens to share the same name as Luke and Mara Jade's son from the EU).

It is possible that Rey and Ben are meant to be twins, or at least brother and sister, but the better option I think having seen the new film is that she is Luke's daughter (making her Ben's cousin). There are numerous clues that link them (the Skywalker lightsaber calling to her more than anything else), but these could of course be there as decoys. For me, she has to be Luke's daughter.

Other major talking point is 'who is Snoke?'. Had the same discussion with Icthalian already and we both think it's Plageuis, but I have seen theories that also point to it being Palpatine. Can't see it being Palpatine myself, he's been the head bad guy for 6 films already and with new characters being brought into this set of films, I think it's a chance to pick someone else (enter Plageuis, Sith Lord and master of Sidious, aka Palpatine).
