Looks like recruiting has gone well. LB and WR depth were the big ones to improve and looks like they've been adressed well

I hope so

Most of the new names have been called up (recalled in one or two cases) as quite a few of the old brigade had lost a fair bit in physicals. Hoping some of those new names can get the right skills up during the campaign, as that would boost the depth chart enormously.

I've gotta say - O-line is proving to be a real headache - just about all of the linemen have some kind of nagging issue (things like low cons/intel, too old, insufficent tacticals/skills/physicals, on a human team and declining rapidly, 20 stamina, set to play in another position etc) that is making the selection process that much more complicated.

Hooper and Burgoyne at tackles - interior doesn't matter that much.

Playing players on O and D and even ST as well is fine.

Pass protection is all about OTs, FBs, Center and then the OGs (in this order). Not even sure the OGs do anything! OTs and FBs are by far the most important.

I agree with you that Burgoyne should play tackle, but Hooper is definitely not the best option for the other spot.

I also have no problems dual-roling people, but will try not to go overboard with it.

Not the start I was looking for, but after a 16 hour day, I'm just relieved that no one got injured.

Back to the drawing board

I was confident going in, but also knew that Mexico had some quality guys in key positions that could create problems, and they'd scored some good wins in their previous 10 matches as well. Some of our QB decisions surprised me (heavily favouring throwing to the new guy, for instance) and the match ratings suggested we should have played better. Unfortunately it didn't pan out the same way on the field.

Oh well, to _MANDRAKE_ and Mexico, well played.

Unlucky.

I will point out though, that special teams seems a bit odd. Michael Betts at STCB, and is Nick Chatres really not in the top 2 KRs outside of #1 WR Kai? I'm sure it wasn't a deal breaker and not why we lost, but we may as well be getting those things right. Betts has hardly any BPOS in CB!

1. You're right. For some reason I had thought Betts was full BPOS at CB, but it's safety. I got that totally wrong.

2. Chartres is 4th on the chart for KR. Henry Lewis and Kris Allen are the two best, with Amon Merrett next in line. Which isn't to say Chartres isn't a good KR at all; we are just spoiled for choice in that department. Also, I hadn't even considered Carlile as a return man. And probably won't either.

My real worry is home games. I can't get online between 4:00 and 7:30 Friday server time for the next few weeks, as I am working in areas with zero reception. So I have to pray that we get no injuries to any starters. Apologies in advance
