Well i wont tell my tactics either. but i only use 2 RBs.

I use 2 RBs and 3 WRs.

Why lie? It is clear from your last 3 matches that you use 2 Running Backs, 2 Wide Receivers and a Tight End.

Guru.

well my TE is not your typical TE.

But he is still a Tight End....Positions speak.

Enough of the debate, call him what you like.

back to the original topic a 3 RB offense has quite frankly become a bit of a dinosaur in modern football. with the increase in speed and power of the linebackers the lack of a need to cover the whole field to cover the rbs give the Defensive Coordinator the ability to just sit in zone and wait for the ball to come to them. and with their 8 in the box being 4 down lineman 3 LBs and a SS, all intended heavy hitters, the lack of blocking becomes an issue. you've now got 8 aggressive and strong hitters versus at best 7 blockers and more likely 6 unless both RB's can really lay the wood. so I for one would see this tactic failing miserably in any realistic football simulation.

The TE position for a lot of teams are getting this kind of production. My guess is all his big plays come late too? I understand you're proud of your team but realistically calling a TE a wideout just because he breaks a few long doesn't speak well to your arguement.

Again back on topic, It seems that there are some pathing issues to be determined in the running game. For todays freindly I experimented with something as did my opponent. Unfortunately for me his worked and mine didn't. He completely stopped my running game. -16 yards rushing for an offense that has been fairly productive. I don't have Will85's qb or a superstar HB by any stretch of the imagination but what I do usually works. Now looking at the game stats to see what happened here My opponent played a 3-3-5 defense.I ran a double TE Double wr single back offense favoring a side. Not only did he play a 3-3-5 defense but he played it with a two DT's and a Nose tackle and then a regular LB configuration. This resulted in 4 players getting all of the tackles for his team.Normally a sparse defensive front like that would have a hard time stopping the run but the ROLB and I would guess Right Defensive Tackle both had 11 tackles each. This tells me that the plays that went to their side went to them every time and they made the play every time that it went their direction. Which tells me a few things about the running game:
a. there are set patterns which players run which result in the same players being compared for blocking for every play. These matchups will almost always produce the same results.
b.Results are compared on a 1 to 1 basis for players. As it stands I had 7 blockers to his six defenders in the run game. if you want to look at it in a strictly half of the field kind of way I had 4 blockers to his 3 defenders or 3 to 2 if you want to take the C to NT matchup out of the equation. either the TE did nothing to assist in the blocking or his defenders were so completely dominant that my guys lost the matchup every time. I find this hard to believe as I have built my team from the offensive line back and I have all 7 of my front guys with at least 6 blocking. That extra player does nothing to help with blocking.

I ran 4 down lineman and 4 lbs in an experiment to try and stop the run. I limited him to 50 yards rushing but the tackles were spread all over the place. I know that it is only one game so this is circumstantial evidence at best, but it is helping me narrow down my theories, and I'll continue to post what I think in the respective forums so that we can try to figure this thing out together.

I like TEs that a very balanced, can go for a deep ball, block, and run the short routes. He scored the first two touchdowns of the game.

1st quarter
BEA TD 07:01 71 yrd pass (Brice Brush to Jere Thomas)
BEA FG 14:21 Lorenzo Emery (23 yrd)
2nd quarter
BEA TD 03:00 70 yrd pass (Brice Brush to Jere Thomas)

really happy with my game plan so far...both on offense and defense.

I believe that favouring a side is one of the worst decisions you could ever make. Unless ofcourse, you are so confident that the matchup on the favoured will win every time.

I have tried it to much success using football logic that says more players on one side, should equal more blockers to a given side as well as more recievers with less defenders but I am really heavily leaning to going back to no favoring of sides. I'll let you know how it goes Guru. you know me, always experimenting and Franchize, congrats

I don't think having more players on one side equals less defenders. no matter where the receivers are, you'll always have 3 players on the line to the left of the center, and three players on the line to the right of the center.

I know when I played football in high school, I was a defensive back, as a safety I had to move a lot. Our main defensive formation had 3 defensive backs. If a team favored one side, I cheat to that side..that was one of my main responsibilities as a safety. I always cheat to the strong side of the offensive team.

In regular football logic you are correct, but in the game, the setups are static so far. you pick two CB's one to the left and one to the Right with a safety split to either side and I have two WR's on the left with a TE on either side too, the game sees one of them as uncovered per the rules
