Just an observation here, but it seems to me like a lot of completions end up going for long touchdowns. Is it possible that the lousy completion percentage is a result of QBs throwing way too many deep passes?

Very well could be. But I've also noticed that on these long completions, there are 2 or 3 missed tackles on the play, leading me to believe that it was a short pass that ended up being broken for a touchdown.

But to illustrate the point that most completions seem to go for TD's at this point, in 8 games my QB has only completed 14 passes(out of 120 attempts), but of those completions he's passed for 371 yards and 9 TD's. Pretty much all of them have been huge plays and touchdowns.

Yeah, the reason long TDs are the norm in passing is because people's CBs have crappy tackling. If you play CBs with decent tackling, a long TD pass against you will be rare.

THis was my guess too, Too much Ohio State/Raiders football. As a buckeye fan I can't tell you how frustrating it is to see our recievers completely stop running any route but the Fly in big games. but I am digressing, It would be my guess that the length of the routes is one of the leading reasons that passing is so risky. Although one does have to consider the apparent dearth of good tackling players at their natural position. I very rarely see a LB or DL prospect with Tackling in the free agents. It's quite bothersome. of course that one is circumstantial and could be just me and we all know how reliable THAT guy is

I think I agree that the pass plays that break open are short plays with defensive mistakes. I have been playing a 2 TE formation and I'm amazed how many big TDs I get from my TEs.
I have a reasonable QB and WRs, but the completion rates are still low.A tweak in the pass stats would work well, and keep all those who play 5-3 Ds honest!!

In my few games, all the players that had missed tackles had tackling skills of 6 or higher (6, 7 or 8).

they obviously are not good enough feel free to send all your 6+ tackling guys to me a lot of the missed tackles are happening late due to stamina issues. so far that seems to be the most important stat. I've got crappy tacklers who play well cause they're not tired.

One question. Does winner of the Regional Cup goes to AFLC Cup or is AFLC for Top Divison League winners?

Here's where my view on all this comes in - I believe that it is more than just the tackling skill. Skills such as Positioning and Vision must play a part. Do you agree?

Also, I understand that this is not entirely true in real Football. Well, far from it, but here is what the Game FAQ states about the Wide Receiver, and well, the Passing Game:

"A wide receiver is the player that runs forward and tries to make himself available so that the quarterback can pass the ball towards him. He is essentially a fast, agile player specialized in catching long passes in order to gain a significant yardage or even going for the touchdown."

Hope this helps.

Guru.

EDIT: I assume Season 2 Jigga, but who are we to know!
