Idea for trades

I had some thoughts about trades and I thought I'd see what others thought of them. Right now, direct trading isn't allowed, and I agree it shouldn't be since it would favor the top teams too much. But I had a couple ideas.

First, what if we set some guidelines about what was a fair trade? IOW, you would have to enter the players' names into a system that would compare their abilities, experience, talent, etc., and determine how much, if any, additional compensation would be required to make the trade fair. This would keep experienced players from ripping off rookies, and an owner would be able to save up enough to make the trade if both parties agreed to wait.

Second, what if every trade included a transfer fee, and this money went into a fund that was distributed each week to teams in the lower divisions? That way even the blockbuster trades between top teams would have a benefit for developing teams to help them improve their lineups.

Please don't bother telling me it's not going to happen any time soon because I know that already. I just think eventually trading should be built into the game somehow to make it more realistic and fun and I've been wondering how to do it fairly. What do you think?

I think the only way trades would be fair, is if it was only allowed within your division and the other league members voted on it.

i dont believe that any manager really needs to be protected. When I started out I sold a couple of my 4.5*-5* rookies for <30k
To be honest being ripped off doesn't really push you back by a lot. And having lots of 5* players on the team is overrated.
There could be 2 scenarios -take your pick.

Either there are way too many 5* players, in which case 1 player lost is no biggie. The other option is 5* players are slow to come by in which case its not like every team has a plethora of talent.

On a sidenote, why give the poor peasants a share of the transfer fee....just give them the loot

Poor idea. a swap is a swap. Lower teams should not benefit from swaps they have nothing to do with.

Suggestions and ideas have their own section. Sorry, not trying to be anal, but lots of suggestions have not made it recently to the correct forum.Last edited on 2011-01-27 at 9:57

There are simply too many potential ways to cheat with a trade system, which is why it will never be introduced to this game. So until there is a fool proof system with absolutely know way of cheating, then I will not support a trading system.

+1. I have seen this in lots of other games. People will log in with multiple user IDs from multiple computers / IP addresses and funnel all the talent to one of their teams. Even without that, someone quitting could send all his talent to a friend who would then have a powerhouse team.

A system where everyone has (theoretically) equal access to top players is the best.

It's not a suggestion, it's a discussion. If I had a suggestion, I wouldn't be asking opinions about formulating a suggestion.

Your point is valid, that there should be no benefit for lower teams, and a trade is a trade. Comments about gimmicking the system I dismiss. Any system would be prone to that. We have to assume there are safeguards and expulsion for violations. The league restrictions idea is interesting---might be a careful way to start, with limited access and league rivals there to veto trades. Like fantasy football in that way, which has a much more limited list of players than GI. I think most trades would get vetoed, but who knows?
