there's actually a "law" that tries to explain this called Zipf's law, basically any language has the same percent-distribution among the words and their occurrences, this is even true for ancient languages that we have not even translated yet, and we know not why this is

Well, in speeches you can line up 2 or 3 "uhs" or "ums" and it doesn't seem to be a problem. If you start doubling and tripling "thes", then all of a sudden you have a stuttering problem
