Been with this game a while now....... Has always been said run v bot pass v a human......
However today I missed out on promotion as the human team that I was better on paper beat me with rushing yards of 156 yards !! Was this the difference and should I run the ball more ?
Thanks

You only did 3 runs!? I'm not pro but I think you should run more.

At lower divisions, if you do not have a good QB, I think you should run more. Once you have a QB/WR couple with some ability you may risk it more with passing game. That advice was not completely right...
So the old saying on here run v a bot, pass v a human no longer applies ?
And to stop the run (teams are running over me.....) is a 4-3 or 3-4 D generally better ?
Thanks

It is just a saying...
The truth is that the running game is getting stronger after the engine changes. But I do not know anything about the running game at all... I have no idea about how to help you defending against runs. Sorry.

The run game has certainly improved. I am unsure of its limits and don't know if anyone is. It can certainly operate at the highest levels as shown by Ms. Dimple.
Aside from the last game I would not say teams are over running you. The two games against Lichfield seemed to show they had more consistent passing attacks giving them more plays (higher comp rate).
The pass is still key but runs can still you a march. I have not tested extensively but a 4-4 worked for me (this is my usual pass defense though). I have strengthened my DT from DE or OL though if I expect the run.
Honestly your struggles seem to be in terms of your offense. Too many games of 28 points or less (including last season which went better).
The game where you were over run has been noted for reference though. I am sure research could turn out more than I have found out.

The running game has improved somewhat.
However, it is most effective when it is deployed as a surprise, thereby catching the defense guessing Pass on all three downs.
It is less effective (although more effective than before the GE tweaks) when the defense accurately guesses Run on some downs.
My biggest problem that is my own doing is letting go my top speedy WR before his replacement was quite ready...... That's hurting me........ But overall was trying to get a grip on run v pass......
But thanks everyone

My take is that running game is valid. But i am only a relatively new coach, starting at div6 and now 'only' in div3.
