Great start for Brazil! A 70-42 road win over Ireland. I am not confident yet but I have some hope now!

Some highlights from week 1:

Group A

Sweden and Russia, which are the favourites imo, started well. The swedish tem had no trouble against Spain. On the other match, the russian team managed to put a superb comeback against Czech Republic. They were losing by 35-14 at 04:27 of the 3rd quarter and with 4 unanswered TDs the game ended in a Russia 42-35.

Group B

Canada palyed a BOT formation and Slovenia was very thankful for that... On the other game of this group we had a really exciting game between Denmark and Netherlands. The dutch team stunned their rivals in a tight 51-45 OT win after scoring a last second game-tying TD on regular time.

Group C

We have not seen any exciting games on this group, as Italia and Brazil overcame with ease the New Zealand and Ireland teams, respectively. Will Italy stop their drama on qualfiying phase?

Group D

Here we have seen one of the most unexpected results of week 1: Norway beating Switzerland in a 56-49 match! On the other match, Austria have struggled to beat Venezuela in a close game until 3rd quarter. The "Vinotinto" team is showing signs of fast development but it is still not enough to put up against the major NTs.

Group E

Another BOT formation NT on this week: Ukraine. It have made things easier for Slovakia. On the other game of the group, we almost have seen a big surprise! Turkey and USA tied on 35-35 in regular time. The teams exchanged the score lead many times during the game. On the OT, the american team needed only 2 plays and 34 seconds to avoid any further surprises. But it was far from being a brilliant team today...

Group F

Can you imagine a tough group? Well, group F is worse than what you may have imagined! Hungary seems to be back again to their top performance after the disappointing WC XXI cycle. With a great comeback over Finland (another top NT) by 42-35 the hungarian messed a little more with the predictions for this group. Meanwhile, Germany keeps on with their great performance and samshed the "underdog" of the group: Bosnia. Just a 63-24 win to start the work on WC XXII.

Group G

Another unexpected result here: Romania managed to get a win over Serbia in a low score of 35-21! It seems like that the team has the same spirit from the 4th place team of WC XX and has nothing in common with the 0-6 team form WC XXI. On the last game of the day, Mexico confirmed their declining tendencies after the crisis and botdom of GI Tlatoanis. The first 3 quarters against Bulgaria were even good and the mexican team kept the game clutch. But in the 4th quarter, a complete meltdownn: Bulgaria 28-7, ending the game in a 49-35 in favour of Bulgaria.

Group H

Another team that seems to be recovered from a disappointing previous WC cycle... Australia played well and defeated Poland by 31-21. Belgium confirmed their superiority and had no trouble on the other game. An easy 45-14 win over Colombia (24-0 on the 2nd half of the game).

Thanks Linkeo, always interesting posts to read

Woah really glad to not be part of F group... crazy matchs incoming

Will see what happens there but really surprised to see USA in such difficulties, no offense for Turkey but we have the habit of seeing strong US team (pretty sure that was not really relevant for the next matchs but we will see )
Germany as always really impressive
Congrats to Brazil also on this first match was not the easiest one to predict...

From a personal perspective do not know what to think about Romania's win... but what I already found is that Serbia is from my point of view too old... physicals should have declined with those 40* y/o guys even if they keep some really nice players... always complicated to switch beast but becoming too old...
Hope that FRANCE can manage to get on top of this group with no major issues, get still a solid basis also tried again this year to include some new players never selected, will make some test and see what will happened, same level estimated than last year I think

Cannot wait to start the competition and join you in this guys

Great work, linkleo. You make the whole NT circle way more interesting than it would be otherwise.

Am I right in thinking we can't do any more call ups/drops now?

The new WC cycle has already begun and trophies for the past season still haven't been assigned. Why does it take so long?

I have made a massive error then. I got really busy with work and then I missed the 1st game, and now I am stuck with a terrible team.
