What the stars in the match report represents?

If i put Player 1 in position X and got 3 stars
and
If i put Player 2 in position X and got 2 stars

Does it mean and PLayer 1 is better than player 2 on position X???

I think that the stars at the start and the end is influence by stamina.

but i saw a game at another user, the first game the player took 3 stars and then 2.5 stars. I'm talking about 2 different games at starting point.

Exactly, so he played one game better than the other.
Consistency might affect the star variations.
