Uh oh. According to the Stud, I'm a favorite in my next Cup game(as of now). Hopefully my players don't learn this because they've played great all season. If the got big heads we're doomed for sure.

I've been keeping my own rankings for a few weeks now, and instead of starting a new thread, will just post them here.

FYI - I'm trying to replicate something like the RPI or the Saragin ratings for my rankings - so they are based on several data points: league wins, cup wins, wins over humans, division, points scored, and points allowed. I'm also tweaking the formula so that is most accurate at the end of the season, so there will some variation and movement over the next several week - especially as the final cup games play themselves out.

Here is this week's top 25 according to my formula:

1. Austrian Invaders
2. Toledo Vengeance
3. Boise State Broncos
4. Wadsworth Grizzlies
5. Louisville Bandits
6. San Diego Thunder
7. Fremont Warriors
8. Resevoir Docs
9. Laval Superstars
10. Safugnoff Eagles
11. Toledo Rockets
12. Oakland Destruction
13. Warrington Eagles
14. Tennessee Orange
15. Lebanon Gila Monsters
16. Poo Choo Express
17. Megopolis Monsters
18. Bootlickers
19. Atomic Peanuts
20. Montreal Allouetes
21. Minnesota Xtreme
22. Rochester
23. CAS IT Warriors
24. Maryland Terrapins
25. San Diego Blitzkrieg

Interesting...do you have to enter the data by hand or can you suck it out with a computer program somehow. Seems like it would be a lot of work if it was the former...

Interesting way the formula works, even though I (Megopolis Monsters) beat Oakland Destruction and Tennessee Orange in my division I am ranked behind them, because they have had the fortune of easier matchups in the cup. Hopefully you will factor in how far the team that you lose to in the cup goes. Good work nonetheless. I enjoy what you have done with the rankings.

well this is a coaches poll of sorts, not really a ladder competition or anything like that. the first steps to becoming a good team involve reading up on some key forums and then applying that information to your squad. I recommend the first couple of threads in the newbie forum.

One good way to get your name out is to play some top teams in friendlies(assuming they accept your challenge). If you can catch them sleeping on you then you can pull off a few upsets and get your name out there. Even if not, the extra seats that most of the established teams have built up should give you enough money to have an edge over the teams you are competing with.

Welcome to the game!

Yes, there are certainly some flaws. You are ranked (slightly) lower in the formula because you have only 4 wins over human controlled teams. The other two teams have 5 and 6 wins vs. humans respectively. And while their 'quality' of those wins against humans isn't as good as yours, I haven't made the formula that sophisticated yet. (I'm using this season to build the 'base' formula - will try to improve it after the season.)

And again, I've designed this to (hopefully) get more accurate as the season goes along. We're only halfway though the season so I'm expecting a lot of variation over the next several weeks.

That was the problem I have with formulas. I messed around with quite a few, but found it was much more difficult just to enter all the variable data, than just to analyze it myself. The variable data being excluding bot matchups from the cup progression rankings(i.e. how many human teams you had beaten in the cup, and the overall rank of those teams). I found I'd have to rank about 100 teams, just to have a reliable data source point for SoS. But since I was ranking the teams myself to come up with the SoS, I found the formulas useless.

The Rockets beat Boise State today in a full starter friendly 34-24. Just goes to show that positional rating isn't everything!
