Is there any point to getting depth on your team or is it down to getting the best 22 players possible?

I think there are good reasons for having depth in your squad,the main one being injuries.With league,friendly and future cup games,your squad will start to get stretched and injured.
Also,depth in certain areas will allow you use different formations,always a good thing
