If Grid-Iron won't fix the asinine practice of scrambling your entire lineup because one player gets injured, they should at least institute a newsfeed when one of your guys gets injured, similar to a challenge notification. It's bullshit that they would insert your kicker at D-Line for your league match because a LB got hurt in practice less than a day before the match, for example!

I wasn't going to win my league due to improperly valuing the importance of Special Teams earlier in the season, but finishing with any hope of respectability is now unlikely! I checked my players' health throughout the week, but couldn't catch the last update....really discouraging!

Quite a few of us would like to see at least a list of players to plug in in case of injury be added, or at the least have just that position be random. For some reason what the admins said has slipped my mind, but I do feel your pain. Season 1(back when you're entire lineup, offense AND defense were random with an injury) I had it happen, lost to a bot, and it cost me a promotion.

Yeah, thanks for the empathy. It seems the ability to set a sub for each position would be worthwhile. It just makes no sense to set it to completely random, thereby all but ensuring an *ss whoopin'!

Same thing happened to me this week. My defense ended up random and I gave up 49 points. (I'd only given up 28 in the first 7 games) Luckily I pulled out the win with an 84 pt. explosion by the offense.

I don't see a big problem with it. You should be rewarded for being active.

In real life, if someone gets injured you don't just throw guys in a different positions and if this game is emulating real football, then there needs to be a way to put subs in without having to check your roster every moment. Some people have jobs, families, other things that keep them away from the game sometimes and they can't sit by the computer to check updates. Something should be in place to help people out.

"In real life" If someone gets injured a coach must then make adjustments. A coach does not just take the next player on the depth chart and throw him in there. They may use a combination of players, and they may change game plans around it. It is much more realistic to have to fix the gameplan than just having a sub for an injury.

I really do not think that checking your roster once every Friday is a terrible burdon for owners. I have a job, wife, and kid and I manage to log in every Friday.

The coach may make adjustements, but he's NOT going to put a defensive lineman at quarterback, your punter as an offensive lineman, etc..

Another player that plays that position should be put in. Each player even has secondary (and more) positions that he's suitable to play. The AI should be able to set at least a decent lineup.

Some people get online other places than home. Maybe they're at an internet cafe and can only afford to get on once a week. Come here, accept a friendly, set your lineups, and that's all they have time for for the week. Maybe they get on at a family member's house and can't/don't want to be there irritating them about using their computer every day.

I personally log in for a few minutes at the least every day, and am usually around a couple of hours a day. But that doesn't mean that everyone who plays the game has the time to do so. So I will agree that some kind of depth chart to decide who plays when there's an injury would be good.

Also, I would say that 75% of the time when there's an injury in the NFL, the next player on the depth chart at that position DOES end up playing. The change in gameplan would be if the injured player was an important one. Then they'll change the plan to have the focus on that side of the ball be someone else. We don't have that complicated of a gameplan system here. So I don't see why we'd have to change our entire gameplan for one injury anyway.

See original post. The point is I had been active and had checked my players health/lineup every day that week save the last one. I'd been traveling and was unable to get to a computer. I'm not sure your theory, poorly thought out though it was, really applies here.

Moving on, it seems pretty basic:

A) Allow us to set a reserve for each position.
B) Set-up an injury notification. Maybe an update in the scroll at the top of the screen similar to when you receive a challenge.

or

C) Disallow the occurrence of stealthy injuries within 24 hours before a match begins.

As to your other point, in real life a coach will at least know if a player is injured and unable to play before a game begins and would not insert his kicker at LB, a WR at DT, and bench his top CB's just because one unrelated guy got injured....I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.
