Woohoo!!

Finally got that first HvH win! Unfortunately, it pretty much eliminates Brooklyn from contention... but great for us!

The season is winding down and there's only one HvH game left, East Bay against Dallas, and it really has no bearing on the eventual winner of the division.

All 4 teams were active all year and virtually every game came right down to the end.

Best Coast has a 2 game lead and a very comfortable points lead, with only 3 bots left on their schedule. So barring a complete meltdown, they've locked up IV.24 and will be leaving us as they move up to D.III. Congratulations to them, they deserve it! I can't say I'm disappointed that Brooklyn beat them last week though, I didn't want to see them go undefeated.

Week 18 has the only game of substance left as Dallas travels to East Bay. East Bay currently has a one game lead and 34 point lead over Dallas. This game could decide who finishes 3rd and gets the little bit of extra prize money. It should be yet another tough, close game.

In the real standings (HvH), here's what it looks like so far:
5 - 1 Best Coast Crew
3 - 3 Brooklyn Barracudas
2 - 3 East Bay Pirates
1 - 4 Dallas Desperados

Week 15 Power Ranking for Div IV.24
1 - Best Coast Crew
2 - Brooklyn Barracudas (-161)
3 - Dallas Desperados (-550)
4 - East Bay Pirates(-848)

Promotions from D.V
Again, unless someone has a complete meltdown or goes bot, these teams have their divisions locked up...
IV.70 - UW Huskies
IV.71 - Morganstan Mambas
IV.72 - Short Bus Raiders

This should be a fun and competitive division next season if all 6 managers continue to be as active then as they were this season.

Should be another great year in NA IV.24. I see we got two new human teams and one bot. Good Luck to everyone.

Actually, we got 3 new humans and the bot (St. Peters) that got relegated from D.III

UW Huskies, from V.70.. a very active owner with a nice team.

Morganistan Mambas, from V.71.. who's been flirting with bot-hood for a couple of months now. In fact, 2 weeks ago, he logged in on the day he was set to go bot! Hopefully with other humans to play against, he'll be re-energized and won't go inactive.

Short Bus Raiders, from V.72.. another very active owner.. he should also be a nice addition.

This is going be a fun season!

Here's a quick look at D.IV.24 for the upcoming season.

An influx of human controlled teams will make an already competitive league, even more so.

Brooklyn Barracudas
Runner up last season and gave eventual Champion Best Coast Crew, their only loss of the year. Young tough defense returns so it will be hard to score on Brooklyn. The offense is improving and Bradly Dooley has greatly improved his passing. An explosive corps of WR's will make the Barracudas an explosive team and the odds on favorite to win the league in Season 5.

Prediction: 1st Place

East Bay Pirates
Runner up in Season 3, but fell back a little in Season 4. East Bay finished up Season 5 with back to back shut out losses to Brooklyn and Dallas. The Pirate still have a very stingy defense and the best group of LB's in the league, but the offense was the weak spot down the stretch last year. WR Mac Brennan is a bonafide star, but needs improvement from QB Tory Downing to get the ball down the field to him. A tough offensive line, anchored by stud Elvis Malik will need to protect Downing and open holes for running game.

Prediction: 3rd Place

Louisiana Lagniappe
The player turn over is nearly complete. There are still a couple of holes to fill and spots to upgrade, but the former Dallas Desperadoes proved in the 2nd half of season 4 that they are now a contender. A late TD by Best Coast was all that kept the Lagniappe from sweeping the second half of the season last year and finished strong, beating Brooklyn 21-7 and East Bay 20-0 to finish out season 4. The defense is tough, but the DB's are old. The youngsters in waiting still need some seasoning and training, but their young Safeties and Cornerbacks are talented and hungry. On offense, the addition of TE Nikky Buylinckx and WR Arndt Valentin have added explosiveness to the passing game. QB's Reggie Holiday and Claud Mulholland are both talented passers who can get the ball down field. Power back Mark Bailom keeps opposing defenses honest with the ability to break a long run on any given play.

Prediction: 2nd Place

Morganistan Mambas
May be a moot point, as they appear ready to go bot. They were rescued from bot-hood three weeks ago about an hour before the deadline. It looks like they may not be as lucky this time.

If they pull out of their death spiral, the outlook for the Mambas is not good. They have a couple of studs on offense in RB Randy Crockett (who is actually a better QB and WR than RB) and Offensive Linemen Franklyn Daves and Les Parkin. They have no QB on the roster so their offensive output will be severly limited. On defense, the outlook even worse. The Mambas only have 6 defensive players on their roster, 1 DL, 1 Safety and 4 LB's. On top of that, their energy levels are all below 75%, in fact the entire team is suffering from very low energy levels.

Prediction: 6th Place

The Short Bus Raiders
The Raiders have a good mix of youth and experience, although some training across the board will be needed to challenge for the championship. Young QB Casimiro Nascimento leads a young and talented group of players. The strength of the Offense is the offensive line and they should be able open enough hole and protect Nascimento well enough to keep them competitive. The defense is going to be stout with Dominique Yim anchoring the D-Line and occupying the o-linemen long enough for talented LB's Willis Arias and Erick Waldon to wreak some havok. The DB's should be solid enough to help keep the scores close for the offense. Problem could be, once he starts getting competitive enough to challenge for the league championship, he's going to need to start replacing some of his aging players, and a step back may be needed before the step up to promotion.

Prediction: 4th Place

UW Huskies
Very young team, but lots of talent and upside. They are also anxious to test themselves against human foes finally, after a season of crushing bots. With some time and training, they will be a fearsome bunch indeed. BPOS ratings are still pretty low and the first part of the season could be tough for the Huskies. By the second half of the season as their experience grows, they should be much more competitive.

Prediction: 5th PlaceLast edited on 2010-02-09 at 6:18

Nice writeup.

I see it as a tight battle all season. The Lagniappe played best at the end of last season and have all the momentum.

My prediction for final standings.

1. Lagniappe - Holiday's accuracy should be the difference in most human vs human matches.
2. Barracudas - Still a developing offense, but defense is good enough to keep any game close.
3. Pirates - Running out of time with aging superstars. Always a tough match.
4. Raiders - Have some talent, but over training may cause issues this season.
5. Huskies - Team only about 4 months old. Still young, but moving in the right direction.

Too bad the Mambas went bot, a 6th human team would only have made things more exciting!

Good Luck to everyone this season!
