I also do not get it Kubert.

It's not as if we have 99 teams, meaning 49 matches and one team misses out....There's a lot of teams with a bye in the first round!

I have a bot team

you have to think, from top to bottom. So in the Final there will be 2 teams, in the semi 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, ...

So if you have 350 teams for the cup, in the first round 100 will get a free pass to next round. I didn't put much tought in it, but I cannot tell you how to solve the problem. You could fill the empty slots with bot teams, that every human team is able to play the 1st round. On the flip side you then sometimes have bots playing until the 4th or 5th round.

EDIT: just checked it.

144 games and 112 free passes is in total 256. I think there aren't just enough teams to play 256 games.

hrm...

I may have missed something but why is it that the 112 free passes can't be paired together? I mean 56 games would make it and even spread. The later brackets can be decided after the first round. It'd be better to give 10 or so teams a bye in the next couple rounds than to give 100+ a bye in the first...

It would also be possible to just keep pairing teams until you get to twenty or so and then have a huge round robin for the championship. That way you need not pay attention to brackets and the whole thing lasts longer for the teams playing well.

Cup is played on elimination basis. The team that loses is out of the cup and the team that wins goes to the next round. Number of teams (up to fourth level) in each of the rounds goes like this: 512, 256, 128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4 and 2 (the final game). At the moment the number of teams in a region with 4 levels is 400, with 3 levels is 130, 2 levels 40 and with only 1 level is 10. So, the number of teams having a bye depends on the number of teams in that specific region.

Ture sure, but still you have to give someone a by sometime. But it will be less people each time you pair to bys against each other. I think then people will cry "why does xy get a by in the 4th round and I have to play against ...!", but still it will be less teams

I understand this, but why do the "cupteams" have ANOTHER possibility to fix an EXTRA match, ic a friendly? That's what i tried to explain earlier....

I agree Buliwyf.

People will be more annoyed from players having a bye in the later rounds than the first

Idea! How about to make the bracket even you have some of the bot teams play-in like in the NCAA tournament? That way nobody would have a bye!

Admin, I have a bye in the first round. Do I still get the sponsor money for a victory in the Regional Cup?
