Selling players

I have looked through the FAQ, but couldn't find anything on this.

Where can I find more details on selling players, and the costs associated with this?
I just tried to sell someone, for $1,100, but was told that it would cost $2,300 to do this, plus a %age of something (GIA or something like that?)
Why does it cost to sell a player? And why does it cost more than the player does?!

Read Game rules:

Players can be transfer listed at anytime you (the manager) wish, as long as you have enough money for the appropriate transfer market fee. The player is transfer listed for a period of 48 hours plus additional time if the player is being bid on less than two (2) minutes before the deadline (the deadline is extended for two (2) minutes each time this happens). If the player was bid on in the alloted time frame he is transfered to the highest bidder after the transfer update that is run every day at 1 AM (server time). If player is sold, the GITD (tax department) charges the seller (not the buyer) with the appropriate amount of tax (see details below). However, if the player received no offers, then he will stay at your (the sellers) team. You may transfer list a player that was already on the transfer market again. This can be done as many times as you wish, as long as you abide by the rules provided.

2.1. TRANSFER MARKET FEE
You are obligated to pay $ 2,500 to the GI Transfer Market officials in order to put your player on transfer list. This is done automatically as you (the manager) agree to transfer list the player.

2.2. GRID IRON TAX DEPARTMENT (GITD)
GIDoT is the sole taxation authority in the Grid-Iron world. The department's goal is to keep the players in their respective teams for at least one whole season before they are transfered out. As a result of this, if the player is at his team for:

- less than 1 week the tax is 23% of the amount the player was sold for
- 1 week, the tax is 22% of the amount the player was sold for
- 2 weeks, the tax is 21% of the amount the player was sold for
- 3 weeks, the tax is 20% of the amount the player was sold for
- 4 weeks, the tax is 19% of the amount the player was sold for
- 5 weeks, the tax is 18% of the amount the player was sold for
- 6 weeks, the tax is 17% of the amount the player was sold for
- 7 weeks, the tax is 16% of the amount the player was sold for
- 8 weeks, the tax is 15% of the amount the player was sold for
- 9 weeks, the tax is 14% of the amount the player was sold for
- 10 weeks, the tax is 13% of the amount the player was sold for
- 11 weeks, the tax is 12% of the amount the player was sold for
- 12 weeks, the tax is 11% of the amount the player was sold for
- 13 weeks, the tax is 10% of the amount the player was sold for
- 14 weeks, the tax is 9% of the amount the player was sold for
- 15 weeks, the tax is 8% of the amount the player was sold for
- 16 weeks, the tax is 7% of the amount the player was sold for
- 17 weeks, the tax is 6% of the amount the player was sold for
- 18 weeks, the tax is 5% of the amount the player was sold for
- 19 weeks, the tax is 4% of the amount the player was sold for
- 20 weeks or more, the tax is 3% of the amount the player was sold for

I think managers are finally cottoning on to this....I've sold 2 players and have made my starting price 3000 to cover the tax etc.If you are wanting to reduce your wage bill and are willing to make a loss to do so,start at $1000, otherwise cover your own back .

What if they are rank though?

You'd be lucky if anyone would want to buy them at all. It seems I'd be as well releasing the player, as it would cost me more to sell him?

You'd be suprised. I have seen some pretty ridiculous offers for mediocre players.

Obviously, you sell at your own risk

Yeah, I've been dumping my crap on the market and making more than it costs me to win the bid on a future all-star!

How to determine which players to buy, or to sell? How do you recognize a future all star then? The more stars on his talent the better the player will get?

I personally do not go by the stars. The stars justify how good the player is in his natural position (The one that is shown on the transfer list).

Personally, I go for high teamwork and consistency values. This means that the player gains more training points every week, and plays to his full ability regularly.

Ofcourse, skills that are needed for that position are handy too

Another factor, is age and price - The younger the better. The cheaper the better.

Hope this helps

But, we are looking for talents, are we not?

Most logically to me is that his current "rating" is his overall score on his best position. This increases after time with training and matches. The games just started, so allmost all players are equally good (or bad) as their rating is 2 at the most right now.

His "talent" is what we are looking for. If he is low talented (1 or 2 stars), then forget about a good future for the guy. He can earn some money on the lowest division or just play with friends. This guy will never turn in anything good. If he is high talented (3,5 or 4 stars) then he can turn into a high rated player with good training and match experience. A 3 star talent is average. A 4,5 or 5 star player is the one that we really need. This is the future superstar of the team! With good training and match experience this guy can become a 5 rated player! This guy trains like the best and plays awesome!

His teamwork is his skill to work together with others. The higher the teamwork, the better, I'd say as this is a team sports. (Unless the guy has 20 speed, 20 strength, 20 agility and so on,..... then let him have and keep the ball and let him make runs for a touch down!)
His consistency is his skill for him to make steady matchresults. High consistency: he can perform consistenly high or low; low consistency: he can perform great 1 match and totally suck the next match!

Conclusion:
We should be looking for players with 4+ stars on their 'talent'.
(Preferably, the player has high team work and high consisency)

Or, not?
