What skill's do I have to look for in a RB. Speed and footwork is my guess, but is that it?

What day do players get training

Good question!

It actually depends on what type of back you want to make.

The first type is the elusive back. An elusive running back is a type of back most effective in a Spread formation where he is usually a lone back. For this type of back speed, footwork, carrying and vision are the best bets. A high strength rating will help him break tackles. Agility may also be a factor in elusive back play.

The second type of back is a power back. This is more or less an FB playing out of position. This is the type of back that should be played in most 2 back formations (HB and FB). These backs are built with power and breaking tackles in mind. This type of back is generally used to run straight down the middle and gain the hard yards behind the blocking of a full back. The most important attributes for this back are strength and carrying. The rest of the attributes are nice but pretty much not necessary since this type of back frequently is running blindly down the middle of a formation with no care but to hit somebody.

The third type of back, a balanced back is likely the build best for this game. A balanced back has all the attributes needed of both a power and elusive back. High strength and speed make him hard to tackle. Good vision lets him find holes. Good carrying means no fumbles and good footwork allows for elusiveness. In real life a back with this talent would also have good catching skills but since the HB isn't thrown to in this game, that is not a factor. Agility should be decent as well as it makes back more elusive.

So to summarize the important attributes:
Speed - 10+ is fine
Strength - ditto
Footwork - 4+ is good
Carrying - 4+ is good
Vision - 4+ is good
Agility - 4+ is good - I'm not sure what this attribute does yet but I'm treating it as athleticism until proven otherwise.

Additional attributes that help the back play his best all game are:
Stamina - 3+ is good but higher numbers (5+) improve late game performances a lot.

Hope that helps!
