Hah! I found one where the top three were 5-2, and based my theory on it accordingly.

I am absoultely wrong!

Check out my League. Second, Third and Fourth are 5-2, yet Second has less Touchdowns than Third. Also, they have not played against eachother yet - So it cannot be head-to-head ratio.

My new theory is the difference between Points For and Points Against!

Yeah it's definitely point differential. In my league there are 4 teams at 4-3.

3rd place has a PD of +40, 4th place is -15, 5th place is -28 and 6th place is -30.
