AFAIK, GI developers are not affiliated with neither Hattrick, not Battrick. Therefore we can assume, that neither game engine nor the website is not based on either of those.

Of course, one can't avoid basic games entities being the the same. It's team simulator, so în most cases it will cover:
- team management
- collection player skils
- league system
- coaching
- player market
These and some others elements will be a part in every team sport management simulator.

Hattrick has implemented comparably simple structure, where player skills/form/experience influence team match-ratings. And during the game these ratings, and not the personal player skills are influencing match events. To be completely honest, there are situations when one-on-one player skill comparison is done, but in the base of game engine works in this three tier model skills-matchratings-matchevents. It's easy for newbies to understand and use game mechanics. IMO, that relative simplicity of the game was and is one of the main driving force in Hattrick.

Other games take other approach, when the game evens are decided based on the player vs player skills as they face each other. I'd call it more realistic approach. On the other hand at the end of the same it's way more difficult to understand what components were decisive for the outcome. For a game like GI with 22 players on the field, very much variable positioning, 15 skills + few more important traits it would be extremely difficult if not impossible.

To make it shorter - for me it would be important to know which one of those two approaches are used in GI and which skills are of top priority for each position. Yes, I know that GI devs told more than once that they are more or less natural for real football and they will not disclose the details. That works until some point, but as soon as I need to tweek my team,either I, an average GI manager will need to research that myself, or wait till someone else does that. And based on the time that I want to invest for this game, I'll probably choose the later.

Bottomline - it's of course my position, and dev might not disagree with that, but GI need more transparency and simplicity when it comes to game engine. Now many of us are still walking in the dark and waiting for a leader to show us the way.

Match engine is explained in the FAQ. It's not the same as Hattrick. We don't know the other game so we can't comment on that

Admin are there set plays being run, or just pure statistical comparisons as the FAQ would lead one to think?
