I have heard people speak as though they know a physical has capped - how do they know that? Do they simply see training points go over 100 but not increase that stat or is there another way?

Supporter account allows you to see the caps. Or a little math also for non supporters.

Australia doesn't have a shortage of safeties. The only reason the team was short safeties was a player automaticaly retired half way through the world cup cycle as he was fired from his team and no other teams showed interest. Just bad luck for us.

There are lots of players available to choose from, just gotta look past the high wages ones and find the gems hidden away with main skills of 15/16 with good physicals.

Another random safety from Australia:-

Pos/Vis = 4 (working on it)
Tackling 15
Intelligence 15
Speed 17
Strength 20 (BMI adj to 17)
Catching 5 (working on it)
Agility 15
Stamina 16
Consistency 11

If I was to take anything out of the last WC roster. The lack of physicals from the majority of the DLine and LBackers was the main concern. I didn't see many pressures or sacks from the defense. Even though they all had 17+ tackling. But many had poor physicals.

Where do you get some sort of indication of this with a non-supporter account - I see nothing. Is it to do with the colour of the stat? From what I can see of that, 1-4 is black, 5-9 is blue, 10-15 is gold and 16-20 is green. What am I missing?

The only thing I can think of is that I mustn't have a player that's reached his cap in speed or strength yet - does an asterisk come up next to the stat or something?

No. Non-supporters have to keep track of it every week with a spreadsheet.

Minimum base points = 8 (this fluctuates, but you want the maximum time and thus the minimum points it takes to ensure you don't think it's capped when it may not be)
Coaches = 1 per fitness coaching level
Teamwork divided by 2 = bonus points
Training intensity = whatever you set it to. Should usually always be 'average' so this is usually 0
Fitness centre = +10% to total points or higher depending on level of fitness centre (note, not training hall, as this doesn't give points towards physicals and only skill training)
Total available physical points per training cycle = 8 + coaches + (teamwork/2) + fitness centre

Focus on specific physical = 75% of your total points on the focused skill and the rest on the other skills with a small bit lost. For the point of calculating a specific physical cap, 0.75*FocusPoints.

Note, it's 75% on the focused skill for ALL training except Attacking (which is 0.65% due to having a higher number of skills). That's why it's usually considered a better idea to train Agility through Defence over Attacking (assuming coach levels are equal or close to).

Thus, when focus training the points you get on a specific skill each week = (8 + coaches + TW/2 + fitness centre) * 0.75

Then, as it takes 100 points per level up... 100/FocusPoints = How many weeks it should take to level up at a MAXIMUM. You focus train a physical for that long and if it doesn't go up, then you know it's capped.

The advantages of being a supporter of course is that you know straight away when they hit their soft cap and don't have to waste up to four weeks of training. However the cap most people refer to IS a soft cap and there is a chance of going up a maximum of three levels everytime it hits 100 (refer to FAQ for those odds). Sometimes you can strike it lucky as a non-supporter and keep training blissfully unaware and get up to +3 over the soft cap whereas a supporter would most likely have stopped straight away. Highly unlikely that many players get that lucky and you probably just end up wasting 4 weeks, but I wouldn't be surprised if a few of my players have gone beyond their soft cap by at least a level or two purely because I'm unaware of their initial cap and just struck it lucky.

Thanks for that.

Oh well, if V3 is decent, looks like I'll be a supporter!

The soft cap is easy to know. Talent x2 + 10 for non physical skills. It is very easy to work out and don't need a supporter account really to figure it out.

Speed and strength do not have a soft cap. It is straight into a hard cap. These skills are the one that make the supporter account worth it. Cos it will take 3-4 weeks using maximum add ons to get a player to raise a stat point. Or not if the unknown stat has been reached.

For those interested, our ranking is now 19th. Was 20th. Should be somewhere between 9th and 12th. But ranking system goes on total points scored, not wins.

The whole National thing to me is a joke.

The yanks, for example, would have at least 10 times the amount of players in the system so their team is always going to be a ton better.

Isn't that a little how real life is? Nations with a bigger pool of talent to choose from will always do better generally. Just be glad we're not New Zealand, Ireland, Sweden, Turkey, Columbia, Portugal, Finland, etc. We've been punching above our weight at times for sure, but with 28 active teams things could be worse. Where teams such as Switzerland and Argentina (who have similar amounts of active teams) do slightly better generally is because their active teams are older and more developed on average. Having said that, we still beat Switzerland twice the last WC.

What also helps is that Australian players seem to be quite popular in overseas clubs, so for NT purposes, our talent pool is bigger than what we just have on our own teams (older folded teams and their firesales). For example, two 5* Aussie WRs I had been tracking on a Danish team recently got sold - allowing myself and project to have a peek at their builds. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if one or both of these guys were in our next WC squad. Other examples include Kayne Firrito, a new 5* inclusion to our NT last WC that I found on a defunct American team!
