Thanks for the post.

It's funny, I get so caught up in looking abroad for all the hidden gems and don't really look in our own backyard until later - relying on reports like this!

Some good players there mate. Jett will be, well, a Jet. Our current crop of QBs are very very good which is why I haven't really looked too hard for QBs, but Jett looks very promising. CB is very interesting, ironically he might actually boot out Dyas but probably Doubleday (who is more consistent and SLIGHTLY ahead in skills but isn't so good physically)

DL Simpson will probably be picked up. I did notice him a while ago, and we need some speed backup even if his skills are 16ish (we literally have two DEs but they're both physical beasts). Matt Watt will be dropped, and potentially another DT only type (Firrito/Betts both of which have tank strength, 5* BPOS, 20 tackling, some agility but not much else) paving the way for Ivan Wall to come back into the side also.

We aint short of DEs are we? Our current two. Plus Simpson and Wall.

Its a bit of a shame BFBS didnt sell some of his one skill wonders. With a bit of time, they couldve be honed into aussie weapons.

Not anymore, no!

I was speaking generally about the team as it stands (we only have 2, with Simpson and Wall looking in).

I managed to get one of BFS' OLs a while ago. He's going to be very good in a season (but currently playing catchup with a lot of secondary skills). 19/20 physicals and high intel!

I meant now too. Players like Burgoyne and Simpson can play anywhere due to their physicals. Better off having more DEs than DTs for that reason. Be good to see Ivan Wall back in.

Roster updates:

W. Siegert looks like he's got the OL spot vacated by Eddy for now. The few OLs I've had a look at are primarily rubbish except for this guy, though he's on a bot team. E. Johnstone is decent but I think a lesser choice. There are a few other guard types that are floating around which could be decent too, but I'm unsure if they'll crack the team. This change is very much still up in the air, and obviously if there's a gun OT out there he'll be the one brought in pronto (due to being more versatile/useful)

A. Moles in for R. Dempster, will probably be depth as the Mourish/Reid types have better primary skills currently. B. Firrito will miss out. He's sort of halfway in between all the others in skills, physicals and BPOS. Significantly losing out to all the crop in at least one broad area and not really ahead in other areas against most. Sylvia as predicted is underdeveloped, but his physicals and balanced training so far look very encouraging for the future.

K. Raines in for Q. Doubleday. Kinda similar I guess, but Raines has better physicals.

T. Simpson in for M. Watt. 5* for 5* BPOS, and he's just much more useful.

A. Riggio in for K. Firrito. Another 5* for 5* DL change. Firrito is too one dimensional, and Betts is better all rounded in skills and physicals + can play safety in an emergency. A. Riggio has good primaries (19 in tackle/agility) and pretty decent other skills. Physicals are a little lower than the other guys I guess, but he adds some speed again to the force. This selection is the most likely out of all of them to change. I have yet to look at Ivan Wall's improvement (I'll get to it I swear!), and while he won't have as high BPOS, his physicals have 2 more strength and potentially may have better skills (though A. Riggio has a pretty decent standard imo).

C. Lambert in for T. Surjan. Lambert is a dual position (potentially triple position soon). He won't ever play WR for us (though he's listed as one) due to our depth. However, his skills, physicals, and BPOS make him a decent KR in context. They're rarer than hen's teeth! Surjan was a less consistent, less powerful punter than Sellar and a lesser kicker/consistent than Lucas. Again, both the guys left on the team can easily do both kicking/punting jobs if one is injured. It means both positions can now absorb one injury and still perform well.

Jett is a gun, but is about 2 behind in various skills compared to the incumbents. M. Watters entire development so far has been spent on vision (?!) so his primaries are still the same as our 20/15 bot WR while giving away positioning and physicals. Have also taken a look at a few others but no one really stands out.

Still looking for a safety + TE (Sylvester has to go) and other potential improvements. All very much up for change still. 15 callups used.

Further update:

In what could be the most controversial decision in selection so far, I think Ivan Wall might miss out again. Riggio is just way in front of him in skills and has more BPOS. Wall does have 1 more speed and 1 more strength, but I don't think that's enough to overcome that.

Skills wise, Ivan Wall is very close to Ted Simpson. But Ted has more BPOS, even better physicals, 5 more footwork, 1 more agility, while giving away a combined total of 5 points tacticals to Wall. Again, giving a slight edge to Ted I think.

Found two potential safeties who aren't 16 speed or below, but the skill levels aren't too high.
Option 1: 5* BPOS, 20 speed, 13 strength. Tackling 16. Tacticals and agility around 15. Intel 9, consistency 11. But... 3 stamina. On an active team

Option 2: 5* BPOS, 17 speed, 18 strength. 14 tackling, agility, positioning. 13 footwork, catching, vision. 20 cons, 17 intel. 14 stamina. On a BOT team

If primaries were up a bit higher, I'd take Option 2 everyday of the week. However, I think Option 1 is the one we'll be bringing in to replace Connors, given his higher primaries and improvement ceiling (though 3 stamina...). Either way, I'd rank all the other safeties (besides Betts who is playing DT) above both and ahead on the pecking order. I had a look at some other safeties too, but these are the two best I could find not already on the team.

Also, after much deliberation. I have decided to drop C. Salter and call up E. Johnstone afterall. A few guard types out there that are looking ok, but in the end I think Johnstone's speed to provide OT depth is good. Eddy played a lot of OT for us last campaign (despite being quite slow and middling skills) and did a pretty good job (following his club performances in the same position). So with some tacticals increased, I have no doubt Johnstone can do just as well given better physicals + primary skills making up for 0.5* bpos. Salter didn't play at all from memory, so we only stand to gain from this change.

Furthermore, I have dropped J. Silvester. He's 31, had bad physicals anyway and not much else (despite 20 agility/catching). TEs are a bit rare for us. We've got a couple of really good ones on the way in Kamikaze + the Bucs, but they're some way off. I ended up selecting a guy named Bradd Gourdis. 4.5* BPOS, great speed (20), decent strength, 19int, 15 cons. Has 16 agility, but 10 catching (other skills are roughly around this). I don't see him playing much, but he's the best I could find in terms of current development. Active team, so he'll continue to improve.

I may consider dropping a WR (probably Craven who was unused, 4.5* BPOS, a bit slower, but highly skilled, or Lucas Taylor) for Ivan Wall or another hidden gem I haven't spotted. That said, I'd rather have a spare WR than a DE, especially given one of the listed WRs on the team is pretty much a KR for us and not actually real WR depth.

I was wondering who Moles was. Thanks for the update.

Potentially one of the best OLBs we'll have in the future with his 5* BPOS and good physicals (super fast). Could probably play MLB too, but he isn't quite as intelligent nor as strong as our main candidates there.

His club certainly seem to know how to train players evenly too if this guy is anything to go by. I've seen some really whacky training developments with some NT prospects recently, but this is solid.

Doing one final sweep.

Will probably end up bringing in Marco Watters for J. Craven afterall (I kind of forgot Craven had such low agility).

As for other news, I haven't really found anything startable yet. Found a 20/16 5* CB who is evenly developing nicely. Also a 18/17 5* DL who is at a similar development stage as the CB (maybe a bit further along) - more future competition unfortunately for Ivan Wall! Will certainly keep note of them and pass them on in the future when/if I'm not in charge anymore.
