What happens on 4the down when you never attempt a field goal?

Then attacking team just punts the ball as far as possible.

And why don't they try to rush?

that is a good point. i have sent my rush lvl to 2 yards. not that on any of my 4th down attempts i have been that close. does it take the rush first or just auto go to the punt. i have also set my FG guy to come out with 20 yrds.

One question for the admins. If I set the 4th down rush to 1 yard, does that mean that my team will always try to get that 1 yard on 4th down, even if the ball is on my half?
I definitely don`t want to lose the ball on my 10.

It means that your players will rush the ball on the 4th down only if there's 1 yard left to the next 1st down (no matter the position).

Edit: You raised an interesting question here. We talked about it and it is a little dangerous to attempt to rush on 4th down when still in your half. We will change this so that the players will try to rush the ball on 4th down only if your team is on the opponents half. The changes will take effect after todays league matches (for tomorrows friendly) and it will be announced on the main news later today

Isn't it always better to attempt a field goal on 4th down, than to punt?

No, because if you attempt a field goal on half way for example, and miss, the opponent will start on the halfway line.

Where as, if you punt, you take the safe option because you know that the opposition will start with a lot more yards away to get to your end zone.

Ofcourse, it depends how many risks you want to take.

Sorry, if you know this and if I've stated the obvious

I didn't know that, so thanks
I thought that if you tried a field goal, and you missed, the defence also had to start where the ball landed, but that's not true apparently
