I joined this game a few days back. (login there is shaggyweez) I'm in league 10, one of which Squish was in the SB. I took over the Redwood Fire Dragons just before the draft. I had the 5th pick which leads me to believe my team didn't do so well last season.

I hit the FA market hard to improve my offense. I had two solid running backs (one a bruiser, the other a speedy back), but not much else. I signed a new bunch of QBs, a few WRs, and upgraded the O-Line. I also picked up some guys for defense. With the draft, I took an OT and 6 defensive players. Most of my draft picks made my roster, since I was in sore need of depth on defense. I think it worked out pretty well, at least from looking at my roster. I confess to not knowing much about the game at this point, so I don't know how any of them will perform.

http://deeproute.com/?sel=rosterlook&year=2016&myleagueno=10&myteamno=21 (My team as it stands now)

It took me quite a while, but I got my lineups set and just waiting for pre-season to start now. I picked up an older QB (12 year vet, 33 years old), but I liked my chances with an experienced QB rather than a young kid who needed to grow into the position. Was that a mistake? Well, hopefully I'll run into Squish in the playoffs this year.

Well having a Vet isnt bad i have mine start since i got the team a few seasons ago and he 41 with 20 years of experience but i did happen to pick up a QB that was better than the backup i had before and theres always a good list of FA to pickup but this year draft was the worst 0 Starts and only 2 made roster another in reserve

Yeah having a vet isn't too bad of a thing. I took over a couple seasons ago and my QB is probably around 35 now. I just picked up a younger guy to take his place in a couple of years, but my older starter is doing pretty well.

Would it be a good time to join?

Anytime's a good time to join. I'm pretty sure the league I'm in that Squish dominates(league 2) has a couple openings and the regular season starts tomorrow. Not sure on any other leagues, but you can join at any time. May get stuck with a bad team for part of a season, but that can be a good time to learn the game, since it's quite a bit more complex than this one.

I can't. There's a checkbox saying I'm 13 years or older and have read and agreead to the terms of conditions or something. Anyways, I'm only 11.

Yea but the new guy i think is going to get CUT cause he got sacked 3 times while the team gave up about 5 sacks last season i need a guy thats not going to act like a stick in the mud and stay with the 40+ year old man

well guys, in case any of you haven't joined yet, deeproute just had a major update (and I don't mean languages). Mike, the owner of deeproute, just released a very in-depth trade system which is open for use now. Owners now have the ability to trade both players and draft picks.

Additional changes coming soon include being able to schedule anytime scrimmage games against other players and a new team pages concept which may pay subscriber credits to players who update their team page more than twice a week (not hard since games are 2-7 games days a week). In addition, the owner of the game is planning on having a game watching engine similar GLB to replace the old game watching. Mike hopes to soon give players the option to DRAFT LIVE!

You're all welcome there if you want to try an accurate football sim that is infinitely better than this one and still improving at a faster rate despite being around since 2005.

It is true to the NFL in terms of:
-salaries
-salary cap
-dead cap
-injuries (number and type)
-performance
-ability for a defense to recover fumbles
-home field advantage
-tie-braking procedures (for playoffs),
-overtime (and 2OT)
-kicking (FG, Onside, FG)
-clock management (no huddle, timeout calling, spiking the ball, kneeling to run out the clock, running the ball late with a lead)
-free agency (length of period as well as bidding wars),
-draft (number of picks, where they fall, trading of picks)
-Special teams (hands team, correct kickoff lineup of 10 gunners, correct punt formation with 2 gunners a line an upback and 2 outside guards, correct return formations)
-formations (8 true offensive ones, 19 defensive looks from 4-3-4 to 7-3-1 to 3-5-3 to 3-0-8 with the ability to play ALL of them in a given game)
-perfect stat keeping (including all relavent QB stats like attempts, completions, completion percentage, TDs, yards, INTs, longest pass of year, times sacked, yards sacked for, rating, fumbles, fumbles lost etc. Blocking stats include number of pass and run plays played, number of runs involving the position, blocking performance on those runs via a rub block rating of 1-10, sacks allowed by the player and sack percentage allowed. You can probably figure out the rest of the positions stats, defenders have run/pass plays played, tackles, sacks, sack yards, passes defended, INTs, forced fumbles, fumbles recovered etc.)
-Record archiving (all stats and the play by play of every game of every season can perpetually be accessed via the league history pages)
-Accurate attributes (Players have a combination of 34 attributes plus height, weight and an overall rating. Attributes range from strength to feel pressure, distraction, and route running. Different positions automatically come with much better attributes in the section that pertain to their position rather than it being a crap shoot like here)
-Numbers (deeproute uses REAL numbers. Much like in the NFL, THERE IS NO 65 YARDLINE! Also, FG lengths are correct!)
-Subscriber Advantages (subscribes can activate playbook options where they can literally write an entire playbook there own that outlines what play to use in ANY situation. An example is running offtackle left on a 3rd and 1 in the first quarter with 5minutes left when the team is down by less than 10. If this is too much, the team will use a default playbook and you can customize strategies such as how often to run the ball, which packages to run the most during the game, how much to scramble and blitz and from which postions. It goes as deep as to let you set whether you want 5 yard passes 10 yard passes or 15 yard passes to be thrown more during the game. you can choose how often the TE, WR2, HB, and FB get the ball thrown to them. You can even change a QB scrambling likeliness to control whether your QB tries to stay in the pocket or not. A playcalling matrix can be activated to allow you to customize what situations you would like to run the ball by a percentage.)

Things to note about the game:
1. It's a coaching sim, not a GM sim like grid-iron,
2. You have nothing to upgrade or train (though players do improve)
3. The game pits good coaches against good coaches rather than bots against 12 year olds like here. The bots on deeproute (there aren't many) can beat most of their human opponents.
4. The staff and administrators are nice, and take bug reports very seriously. They are part of the game because they want to make the purest football simulation of all-time rather than just being out to earn money. Every suggestion is taken to heart
5. The game has some learning curve, it will take you at least a few weeks to figure everything out. Browsing the forums and looking at documentation can help smoot this process.

Not done yet...

I figure if they ban me for doing this in this forum, they have to ban the entire forum for advertising games.

What is with you?

You obviously love Deeproute, so just go there and marry their owner please? Instead of just constantly trying to get one up on people here, and abuse the owners.
