So why isn't there a kickoff to start the overtime game? I was watching a friends team and he continued into the overtime match like the game just continued into a new quarter. The 1st play of overtime was a 3rd and 11.

Just think of it as an extended 4th Quarter who ever has the ball to end the Quarter keeps the ball

SO for example if Team A is 2dn and 3 on the OPP 35 then Team A starts over time in that exact spot odd but i lost me a game in OT....but there dont see to be many that go into overtime and when they do they tend to last a LONG time

Actually I am watching games of eight friends in the game and at least one goes into overtime a week. And the overtime system is unlike anything I've ever seen.

This is at best circumstantial evidence Horgar.

I agree with you horgar.

From the looks of things, the defenses are progressing much faster than the offenses. Assuming that the game is filled with humans at some point that know what they are doing, I don't see many games being won by much more than a single TD. Mark my words, OTs will be much more common later on if the offenses don't get some kind of boost!

As for the whole no kickoff thing. I understand it, I just don't agree. If you are making a football sim, it's generally a decent idea to follow the rules of football! But hey, what the hell! Why not add an extra player to each side of the ball and trees on the field? Giving one guy on each team a horse might make things interesting too!

I know it takes time to code things, and I am greatly appreciative of this site and the admins for be as great as they are, but the over time kickoff should be very VERY high on the list of priorities. It's just not football without it.

? High schools in Ohio have a kickoff in OT and NCAA used to. Besides, NCAA isn't technically considered grid iron football. It's a student sport that is quite different from the game we are playing I believe.

I live in Ohio and have seen OT games and I've never seen a kickoff in OT. I have however, seen the NCAA system where each team gets a possession.

But I do agree that this is something that is needed eventually on here. I wouldn't be too happy if I lost a game in the first minute of OT because the other team had it 2nd and 10 at the 35 and broke a TD run on the next play.
