Also been using the callups to scout potential future players. So I now have a good list of players worth looking at. And also crap players not worth looking at. List is available to all aussie coaching staff.

Found a doosie OL with 17 footwork 16 strength and 12 blocking. I'm sure you know what list he went on.

I have a few OLs on my old list that make for pretty hilarious reading. One had 13 speed, 18 strength... sounds ok for a guard right? 18 vision, 16 positioning, 12 blocking, 12 TACKLING, 10 agility/stamina. Derp.

Also found a 5* OL with good salary. Had 16 blocking and nothing else really (so not the worst, at least it's a primary). Only.... he had 12/13 physicals. Man, the list goes on. I think it's the no. 1 position on my list in terms of the number of lopsided builds. Some of them aren't that bad, but pretty much have a salary propped up by a disproportionately higher single skill.

On a sidenote, I'm sometimes PM'd about player builds for NT stuff. Today I was asked why my guy's salary didn't match the skill set I apparently sent in. Apart from the possibility of the old pop a skill after season turnover trick (which is hard for me to do as a non-supporter anyway), since when did a salary of around $56k not match skill levels of 17?!Last edited on 2014-04-13 at 2:08

This is what I look at when I see the roster and look through last cycles games.

Our #2/#3 WR only played 1 game. He is also our #1 KR. Never played this position

Lyle and Gibson are both now KRs also which is definitely new from when I had the list. I'd probably still play them both as WRs (as it's a toss up between those two and Schneider in my mind, though Watters was decent and may have become better). Subsequently, if you have space Lambert could stay as #2 KR (which was what he was in for anyway). My first stint had only the 2 established KRs and when one of them was hit with injury the team definitely struggled a lot more on returns. We could always stick Lyle or Gibson in there now as backups, but I think they're probably better for the team as WRs (unless one of them is not selected that game of course!).

Lambert was never in the team to be an actual WR (from memory, I could have gone completely 5* BPOS), which was why I was a bit mystified to see him play in the qualis last season in that position. The list is pretty tricky because there were/are a lot of duals on that team, and I'd say a good number of them aren't listed under their better position (guys like Kai included, in my opinion. Though didn't he increase his physicals or something to the 20s as a late bloomer?).

I though about a possible QB change, but will stick with the current crop. They are all to well advanced to include a future start taking up a roster spot.

Bootmas will most like go. Although a dual RB/LB. Still is only a backup to the backups skill wise for both positions. I have a RB/TE that is better.

Gourdis will go. little catching, very low tacticals and weird physicals. I have 5 players on my Wildcats roster that are better TEs than him.

Donohoe will go. Poor physicals already and currently declining. Already have 2 replacement in mind.

Good decision. Watts has better consistency, but the gap is about the same as the gap between his intel and Bandy's intel. Depends what you're after. I still remember sending you a PM all those seasons ago with Bandy's name in it for consideration :' )

Annoyed at the lack of his development over the seasons. Really could have been a sick player

Good decision. 2 seasons on and he hasn't developed while your players have

Good decision.

The 32yo Olineman will stay. He has 20 str, 16 agi and 17 sta. Surprized? I was. I guess being on a bot team means to dodge training updates. Hence no losses.

I've written in the past how I ALWAYS suspected this might be the case. Lack of increase in skills via training on bot teams I had suspected meant an absence of a training cycle all together. With the lack of training cycle entirely, this also included declines. I can confirm his strength and stamina haven't changed since 4 seasons ago before his 'decline'. Agility since 3 seasons ago (where it obviously went up due to training). We've got guys on the wings with better physicals, but that consistency (and intel, if you're into that sort of thing for Cs)...

I think this is actually a pretty important discovery with implications across all the NTs. I mean I'm sure some of the minnows have old players on bot teams and may have had proof of this before (rather than just suspicions like me) but I don't think so due to the revolving door nature of their coaches (including foreign coaches) and very few nations keep data like we do. It's pretty neat given bot players will obviously never retire whilst still on a bot team, and if they don't decline... We could almost see a new class of cheating where people create rookie teams just to reclaim NT guys hitting the market from taken over bot teams given the benefits. I wouldn't be surprised given the multi epidemic (relatively speaking for a small region) Oceania has had the last few seasons, and that was just for the thrill of having more teams (not even cheating for cheap talent as far as I saw!). Imagine the deeper regions where it's easier to hide.

Our DLs are monsters. But we have alot of future stars coming up. Doubtful to see changes.

LBs - I haven't found any new to include.

CBs - Cannot see any movement in this position.

SFs - Awaiting some feedback, may see some roster movement for this position.

We've been blessed with DLs for sure, relatively speaking. Ivan Wall one of the unluckiest guys around to still be missing out haha! But yeah, can't see him replacing anyone in this engine anyway.

LBs have always been a bit iffy in depth in my experience. We've got a good few, but they're few. How has Moles developed? I hope by now he's better, but looking at his salary I don't think he has. Bootsma 2.0 and I find that extremely disappointing given how good he could be. Between Moles, Bootsma, and WR Lucas Taylor (on a bot team) I am honestly so pissed off at how they've turned out. Taylor has an excuse given he was on a bot team some time ago, but the other two... argh. There's a few other 5* prospects I've been keeping tabs on, so hopefully they turn out better.

CBs are solid. Raines and Whitecross should still be locks for starting positions unless something drastic has happened. I've always actually liked Kai's build too, but he's the perennial "almost" man in both CB and Safety starting positions. If he's upped his blocking (what else would you have trained by now?) he could probably be STCB?

Kamikaze kids are both good safeties, but Mr Bate is obviously at his last dance (quick katsuben, sell him to a soon-to-bot team to immortalise him!). Betts is obviously a DT/NT with his skillset with Safety being his hobby. Kai is Kai. How has Elijah Walsh progressed? I'm a fan of how his club builds/buys players (I mean, he bought from me, so he must be good! ) but I'm wary about how high he's willing to take skills for salary purposes. Judging from Walsh's salary, it looks like he's stayed the same but maybe he's popped them just after season turnover or something.

Moles has developed his main skills in the past 2 seasons. Dunno if he'll make the cut this cycle.

Our additions...

RB - Jared Grose - although on the roster as a RB, he is a physical TE with skills matching all the current rostered TEs.

RB - Nathan Jones - Older player than gives full bpos options at TE and WR also. Skill wise he is better than the outgoing 30yo RB.

OL - Flynn Arrowsmith - Flown under the radar being from a bot team. Helps bolster our OL, has the skills in the right places.

OL - James Wood - good addition to the OL. Although inconsistent, has the skills we need.

LB - Ramsay Guerra - Still very much a developemental player. Personal choice to include this guy, he may be a future star, probably wont see game time unless the LB squad get locked up for bar fights.

GU - Tyson Street - Speedy with the same skills as the outgoing 31yo gunner.

I only included 1 extra LB and did not touch the DLs. The more I thought about it, and going 3-4 with no real 4th LB option that I like means spreading the LBs thin. So kept 5 DLs for now.

On a side note. Our aging OL situation isn't an issue. I have another 3 (from Jinx/wildacts/other) that almost made this squad. And another well on this way for 19 weeks away that will be suitable for WC duties.

So the long term focus is finding depth to the LBs and physical CBs.

p.s. Still got 19 callups left. So might use them to scout a few more future hopefuls.

19?!?!?!

Someone's been very busy, or indecisive haha. That's by far the most callups you've ever used, yeah? Definitely more than I ever did.

20 were just for scouting. Identified 10 shockers and 10 future players. Had 2 xycles of work to do since nil was done last cycle. The lists created will help someone next cycle.

p.s. Kai jump his main skill to 19 today. So he possibly could be the best SF and CB.
