Not such a good game. Nothing worked. Doesn't matter as result is irrelevant. Just nice to clock up points towards our ranking though. Got at least 3 extra game to do so now. Couple weeks off for the larger groups to finish all their group games.

I'm surprised our completion rate was as high as 49% to be honest. Missed a lot of passes out wide. Safe to say that offensive set up didn't really reveal anything new.

That said, a positive is that despite continually coughing up absolutely terrible field position the whole game through offensive ineptitude and a fill in KR, we held them to 42 points. With us continually striking out, they got a lot of the ball in very good positions and keeping the UK to 42 is pretty rare. We did it our first game when we weren't experimenting and the only team in the last 10 games to match or do better than keeping the UK to 42 points was Spain once.

A few cycles back we kept them to 28 points. Used the Bucs old 4 CB defense.

Great job getting Australia into the WC.

I think I remember that, or perhaps remember an even older example when Cashbox was in charge. They darkwinged all day long to the one WR and we stacked that side with everything we could resulting in an upset.

Spent 5 minutes looking at the 5 teams ranked above us.

17. Norway 1611 + 126 = 1727 + 2 more qualifying games (looks like coach does care as bot last 2 games)
18. Austria 1433 + 192 = 1625 + 2 more qualifying game + more next stage games
19. Romania 1304 + 282 = 1586 + more next stage games
20. Portugal 1242 + 278 = 1520
21. Finland 1146 + 14 = 1160
22. Australia 1114 + 363 = 1477 + more next stage games

So unless somehow we fail to score 44 points or more total from the next stage of 3 games. We'll most likely jump 2 rankings.

Can't see us jumping Austria as the have so many more games in hand to gain points. And will more than just the next 3 games to get past Norway.

19th I think.

The ranking system is flawed anyway. It works on total points scored by the offence since the very first World Cup.

So in our very first world Cup, we had a massive fail and didn't score much. So way behind.

Teams that a in a 5 nation group get to play 2 extra games compared to the 4 nation groups, so they have the ability to gain more offense points. and a few nations have been in 5 nation groups 3 World Cup in a row.

it sure is. i made a suggestion ages ago that was pretty simple.

the winners would be no.1
the runners up would be no.2
the semi final losers would be no.3 and 4
the quarter final losers would be no.5, 6, 7 and 8
and so on.

i'll see if i can find the thread later.
